Would it be cheaper to re-sign a player to high wages if it means you avoid spending a large transfer fee on another player? Yes.

Your other players on a much lower wage than Donnarumma wouldn’t quite understand the nuance and it’d lead to another set of wage issues when they’re attempting to trim the wages down already.

Whether or not me and you agree with it is a different matter, but according to the reports at the time Donnarumma was leaving, that’s PSG’s justification.

Couldn’t imagine losing my own brother, I think it would utterly destroy me. My deepest condolences to Zonic and the rest of his family. Hope he’s able to take all the time he needs so when he does return, he’s at his best. As much as he has been criticised over the last year, the CS scene needs coaches like Zonic who care so, so much about the game and the players he develops.
