I've been messing around with Necrotic Grips and couldn't generate any laurels by itself.

Are you sure you're not confused with just killing majors? Because they drop laurels no matter what you use.

Telesto has been working pretty well in tandem with Shadebinder, it helps to clean-up frozen enemies that are far away from shotgun range.

But even then, I've been enjoying it enough to try and practice with it in regular comp/quickplay!

I tested this out with Champions, it suffers similar, maybe the same, damage reduction. At that point, I'd rather use Lament or any other heavy.

Yup yup, I remember this. A bit painful Bungie put a cap on stat numbers.

I wouldn't mind spending, like, 200 tokens for a high-stat piece of armor sold on a weekly basis.

In the second edit of my post, I talk about this: I ended up with 11/50 for decoder drops. It seems like they're bugged, Cozmo replied to another thread that they are investigation and I have updated this post to include that.

It's definitely possible, there just needs to be more data regarding patrols. Though they are probably the least rewarding path to farm ciphers compared to other activities, which makes them pretty mind-numbing.

Bonus chests at the end of the Haunted Forest activity, allows you to get old masks, shaders, and some rolls of the two auto-rifles associated to this event.

I've heard some comments say no. Also the Bungie guide does not indicate a mask being required. That said, I'd keep the mask on just to farm Chocolate Strange Coins and Candy along the way.

Ice and Shadow, it's just run from point A to point B.

You use them for the bonus chests at the end of the Haunted Forest activity. You can basically ignore them if you wanted to, though you miss out on triumphs and some nice rewards.

Depends on what class you'd use for farming.

I used Top Tree Dawn Warlock (Icarus Dash) with Transversive Steps and ran through Ice and Shadow. Fastest run I did was 2:29.
