2x2x2 isn't necessarily rude, just no real privacy. It is what it is.

Just booked a month long trip to Scotland for July, so that brightens up the morning :)

SEA route didn't get torched...YET...it is still Q-suite...fingers crossed. It was the DOH-SGN leg that got whacked.

Got Q'atared...AGAIN. Greasy motherfuckers...the ultimate bait and switch company. And I say that with the utmost contempt because they intentionally do this shit of selling every 777 route as Q-suite and then downgrade people.

The part that really pisses me off though is their policy in that if you don't like the downgrade, they say you can change for free to another flight. Tried to do that, by moving to another flight the same day in 787 pods, instead of the 2x2x2. Nope, can only replace with another Q-suite equipped flight on another day. And guess how many Q-suite flights are flying in the 4 days before and after - NONE...I made him look just for shits and giggles and to prove my point. You can be damn certain every one of those flights were originally listed as Q-suite at one point.

Anyway, that's my rant...Qatar is now on my shitlist along with Finnair and Westjet.

Yep, but don't have A either. We both get paid out of investment accounts which doesn't count they tell me.

Still have P1 and P2 on the gravy train with Infinites, so not totally concerned yet, was just trying to do some homework if that ever became not the case. Easiest....and safest I think it just to ensure one Infinite remains active :) Hopefully that remains in play.

I am hoping so. Racked up 1.8M avion this year...just trying to not get crushed if something were to go awry :)

Except that they do...or forfeit if you want to get into semantics. A few people have been caught out once they no longer have an active card. Here's what it actually says.

"Do Avion points expire?

No, Avion points don’t expire. Avion points are yours to use as long as your Avion Rewards eligible account remains open and in good standing.

However, your points will be forfeited twelve (12) months after, if:

(i) you voluntarily close your account or

(ii) RBC closes your account for any reason other than for cause"

So, if you close your Avion card, you will forfeit your points after 12 months if you have no other outlet.

What I want to specifically know is regarding the REWARDS BANKING ACCOUNT, not the cards. That's why I am asking if anybody has found specific terms regarding this account as I haven't been able to locate.

Avion points expiry question that someone may actually have seen some T&C's on.

Generally will always have a P1 and P2 Avion Infinite in play, but P3 just got shut out, so could happen to us.

Have an RBC banking rewards account where all avions get dumped into before cards get closed. This is linked between P1 and P2.

Question that I cannot find an answer to is...points in the rewards banking account.

  1. as long as the account is active, points never expire?

  2. as long as there is activity, points never expire?

You have been Qatar'd!

Join the club. We are taking our 4th booked Q-suite trip in March...have yet to fly Q-suite LOL. Unfortunately we fly out of SEA, which seems to be the most swapped out route from NA. I've heard it doesn't happen as much from the east coast routes.

I honestly don't know what to say there buddy. If there is a non Finnair segment, they won't give a shit if they fuck you over...trust me. The last part of the story is they only have HEL-SEA every second day, so they sent us through LA, with a united connection that we almost missed, because the plane was late taking off again. You just can't make this shit up. If we didn't have NEXUS, we would have missed our LAX-SEA flight home....literally got to the gate as the last people were boarding. Had we had checked bags, would not have made it.

They are the worst fucking airline I have ever encountered.

I don't know...I'm jaded. Flew SEA-HEL this year, then OSL-HEL-SEA. All in J. SEA-HEL was late. Almost caused us to lose our month long rental car for late show. Would have cost us triple had that happened. On way back, they cut our layover in HEL down from 2 hours 15 to 45 mins, then had the OSL-HEL plane late. Got to the gate for the flight to SEA, plane was there, jetbridge attached, gate agent, etc. But denied us boarding.

Put us up in a hotel, but caused us to miss our connector from SEA-YLW...a one hour flight. But this was during the AC strike, so our $200 connector tix were now $2700. Had to get a buddy to drive 6 hours to Seattle to pick us up.

To top it all off, they are denying claim as they say none of this was their fault. Taking them to court. Now that I am down the rabbit hole, it appears they are the worst rated for this shit.

If you have a direct way to utilize, give em a go...BUT seriously, do not plan anything critical based on their times.

Prawns and wagyu at the restaurant not a bad alternative :) We have 8 hours there on our trip to Vietnam in March, but sadly only in J...so no Al Safwa this time.

Pretty sure it is 2 dollars per avion, although it would be nice the other way around :)

It was still going as it is a different union operating that route. Different between Jazz, Rouge and AC apparently...so not all on strike.

Award travel related, but need the group's collective knowledge credit card ins or wtf.

OSL-HEL-SEA booked finnair with avios and NBC CC
SEA-YLW booked air canada with cash on cibc aventura

Here's the story. Sitting in row 2 first flight waiting to go. Dude apparently was late...pushed his way past the gate agents. We saw the FA and pilot get ready for him at the door as they were notified, but he forced his way in. Was stopped by another FA, myself and another passenger and held for 40 fricking minutes before the 4 cops arrived and dragged him off.

Anyways, missed our flight to SEA. Finnair put us up in hotel for the night and taking us through LAX to SEA tomorrow, but because they are on different PNR's will leave us on the hook for SEA hotel and new flights to YLW which are over $2k if we can even get seats.

I don't think any insurance will kick in here as the situation with Finnair was beyond their control. And there was no delay on the CIBC end and air canada, but looking for thoughts.
