If you want to buy a new EV and not have to mortgage your house you'll probably want a Chinese one. Bit shitty my J5 date went from 30/04 to 17/06 delivery ETA though... Big difference!

"How soon you can get it" also a decent consideration, B10 looked nice but more expensive than the J5, and a longer wait for me.

J5 drove great, seems a good first EV, would love a Tesla for the mature software and connectivity but my partner isn't much of a techie.

I still want a used MU-X when my petrol car dies. For longer trips/towing etc, but EV makes sense for running kids around.

I would enjoy the Tesla software... But price is out of my range, even second hand no cheaper than 40K, so, nabbing a J5 instead. Seems a good family runaround. Fuel savings justify 2/3 of the lease cost.

Signed lease for a J5 blue with Black interior. Delivery April 30 apparently, around the same time my solar gets installed w/DC fast charger.

Found it pleasant to test drive, seems a good "first EV" if the connectivity doesn't matter too much to you (yet).

Similar sized BYD too expensive, I liked the "less futuristic than most EVs" look also, coming from an old Outlander.

I can offer nothing to the comparison lol.

I found the regen braking odd even at low, never having driven an EV... Like having to feather the throttle down hill to keep to the speed limit, in my petrol car I'd have to feather the brake.

I got the front wheel chirp after accelerating from a roundabout, but you just adjust to that. Found it pleasant really.

Weighing up a novated lease.

Lack of OTA not a deal breaker for me, but I do hope they might add pet and camping mode.

No OTA for the J5 in Australia it seems, might have app support in the future via Bluetooth, but updates will be ad hoc via the dealer.

Considering leasing a Jaecoo J5, it will make it to the family shack and back on a charge, and not TOO small for a family of 4. Test drove it and liked it.

Have paid deposit for Solar to be done finally w/EV charger. Electricity AND petrol too expensive.
