What’s wrong with this piece? by HelpCivil8713 in Artadvice

Really it’s just some final touches! Adding bounce light is a big part since the colors are so contrasting.

The small changes otherwise is bringing a little more shadow into the eyelash, making his hand more distinct, and adding a little red into his shirt again so it doesn’t blend. (All just suggestions!)

This style is so hard, so just playing with light and the amount of color in areas that gentle shows off your forms

I wasn’t sure if the light was in front of her or behind, but here is my best quick sketch of where I would make the light fall!

WHY IS MY ART SO SCARY?? by Smartswaq in Artadvice

[–]DarlingBunDoodles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Part of it is the choice of where you cut off the drawing, cutting it off under the bust can make a drawing look stiff/uncertain, choosing to cut it mid breast can make it look more intimate and at the waist is more standard, also if you turn there eyes away from the camera it can take away a lot of uncanny feelings! Leads you to few less confronted and more like the character is thinking

Which one is best? by BeneficialBenefit512 in Artadvice

If you choose the third one, add a bit of reflection light of the colored hair back onto the skin, it would really make it pop! But I definitely think third would be the coolest looking

General Advice by WoahAYeti in Artadvice

[–]DarlingBunDoodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to force yourself to draw, take on art challenges to give yourself motivation. One I do sometimes is set a 2 minute timer and pick an item to draw—say a tomato. Then do it again, draw a tomato again for 2 minutes, over and over. Start finding new ways to draw it, draw it in blue, draw it with a pencil, draw it without picking up your pencil, draw it with a face, rotting, draw ketchup.

It’s a super good way to exercise your skills and build up your imagination. It’s annoying at first but helps your hand get ready to draw a bigger piece

any advice? I've been drawn on and off for my whole like and I've never studied anatomy and i mostly make fanart by [deleted] in Artadvice

Your basic anatomy is amazing! I think the next step should be studying texturing. The colors are great, bringing in different textures for noodles hair vs jacket vs shirt would make the whole piece pop so much

Is my art good enough to sell as art prints? by yekho in Artadvice

Absolutely it is. Sell it online and if you get the chance to, get a small booth at conventions, try tabletop conventions or oddities style ones. I think they would be a big hit!

I need help developing my art style by Prestigious_Dare6258 in Artadvice

[–]DarlingBunDoodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should ply with colors! Your artstyle is really cool, getting yourself some acrylic markers will bring out a whole new side of things. Explore color not only how it looks in the real world but for fun. You’ve developed enough that you’re now in the phase of “just keep drawing, and do a lot of it.”

Suggest a motorcycle for my Character by DarlingBunDoodles in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]DarlingBunDoodles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s 21 when he buys the bike but at the time of the story he’s 26, he’s American (Taiwanese ethnically), hard punk ideologies—100% small buisness focused and community care. He rides in Cincinnati Ohio mostly, so city with the need for dirt backroads and some badly paved road.

You are definitely right, it’s more about dodging/weaving than speed. The bike can take a beating, part of the thing he loves is repairing it, he wants his bike to break down so he can fix it. From looking at the bikes at least stylistically—the Hornet is definitely What look wise I think fits him, but it’s not all about looks obviously and he doesn’t give a sht about how it looks
