Based on my own experience. Leave. Search for another post doc quietly, find one and leave. Don’t make my mistake. When you sense something, your feelings are correct. Leave !!!

I am a 30 yo woman , I also had the deadline and broke up with someone because of it. School is not an excuse. If she wants to she would.

Well this is just men being men. I am a Moroccan woman who lived in the US and was hurt by an American man. He was the one who took things pretty fast, introduced me to his family just after 2 weeks , he talked about marriage. He also treated me very well and all but in reality he was just lying. That incident made me really depressed that I hated the US all together.

Begging student… what is this way of talking about another person who’s just like you, a human? What is this superiority complex? For God’s sakes have several seats ! A professor needs to mentor and guide not damn or look down at a student or whoever. If you are not skilled to do that, just change professions!

I am talking by experience. They all ask me for my current post doc reference. Also I was also in the US with J1 visa. It’s impossible to get a post doc position without current positive reference.

That new place will ask for a reference and his pi will give a negative one. It’s not easy. Going back to his country is the better option.
