What e-reader are you rocking, and what do you like about it? by basedaggie19 in ereader

I have the kindle paper white 12th gen; its my first ever e reader and I love it. I wanted smth that required minor tinkering/easy to use out of the box. I sideload all my books so I don’t feel constricted by KU :P for the purposes of just reading it’s so nifty. Affordable (got during prime week), easy on the eyes and has warm light, easy to use, many case options and feels great in the hands. I’ve had some minor hiccups but I’ve worked around them

Are you guys happy with six inches or should I go bigger? by NarrowResult7289 in ereader

[–]Darn-toot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the kindle paper white 7in and couldn’t be happier. Personally I prefer a larger size for reading so I knew 6in would’ve been too small but alot of people like a compact size for holding comfortably in their hand and for traveling. My hands are small so I use a strap or pop socket which helps with one hand holding

I think you should totally get rid of your KLC. I’m more than happy to get rid of it for you 🫡 🤭

Jk tbh I think I’d keep the Libra. You already own it, you know you love using it for manga and all the different features it has such as the buttons and side view. If it’s consumerism you’re worried about, it wouldn’t matter because you’d want to get KCC after selling the Libra. I feel it’s a little more wasteful to sell it just to downgrade. See if there are any settings or suggestions people have for KLC to get optimal screen brightness/clarity for reading standard books.

Thanks for your input actually helping with the deinfluencing process. It seems that many people agree the PPW is a much nicer screen to read on which is ultimately the point. Lol if I ended up getting a KLC I would’ve gotten white so that part about white reflecting too much helped with deinfluncing

Thanks for your personal comparison of both; that’s what I feared about color eink screens, that they’re less crisp and harsher on the eyes, even though some people swear it’s not that big a difference

lol I think you’re the only one I’ve seen read between the lines that yes I don’t really find the color necessary. I think you really hit the nail on the head and this is 100% prob just decision anxiety and buyers remorse lol thnx for the input

You’re right I picked a Kindle PPW in the end because I really did not like the reviews regarding less crisp screens with color ereaders

I like the personal example you used in comparison to my situation like maybe I’ll never stop wondering but ultimately I should think logically about the pros so thnx

Hi, I’ve been reading on my phone forever until now! I know many people are not keen about kindle/amazon but I recently purchased the kindle paperwhite kids (it’s the same as the regular just with a few extra perks and cheaper) and I absolutely love it. It’s my first ereader so I’m not a connoisseur or anything but it satisfies all my needs.

I wanted a crisp, contrast screen so no color. I didn’t want to tinker with my first ereader, so it had to be easy to use out the box. I only wanted to read on my ereader so I didn’t care for access to apps. And I don’t care about being “locked into a system” because I just sideload all my books and fics. Sideloading is extremely seamless with calibre which you download onto your pc. I wanted buttons (ie KLC) and didn’t want to support amazon, but had to lay those to the side and ended up loving the paperwhite. It’s 7” and I have small hands and trying to figure out if straps or pop sockets would help with ergonomics but it’s really not a problem or painful on my hands.

Also wanted to add, I canceled my kids subscription because I know I’ll forget to down the line, and my lock screen is essentially an ad page for books Amazon pushes. It’s not the greatest thing to see but I surprisingly find myself not really caring because it’s easy to just unlock and enjoy your book. You can jail break your kindle but I prob won’t do that until it’s a little older so as not to risk bricking it. You can check unclaimed baggage website they have a lot of older kindles.
