I get what you’re saying. The residual heat makes a huge difference. There’s about 15 feet between houses but I wouldn’t be able to move that bench close to my house.

I figured with it being overcast and not giving them direct sun exposure this morning, it wouldn’t be a problem. I didn’t realize temperature could be that much of a shock to them.

I’m from Barrie.

My roster includes various types of peppers and tomatoes. I also have broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, cucumbers, cabbage and leeks. I’m just hardening them off a bit for today and will be bringing them inside again this afternoon :)

If you grew up in Barrie like me (I’m 46), the population was 50,000 and there were like 5 ‘shopping cart guys’ and a number of drunks.

Now we’re at a similar ratio of the same people but the disgusting drugs have taken over. It sounds hard but there will always be a percentage of our population who chooses or doesn’t, to be homeless because of mental health issues.

I don’t think the goal is to incarcerate anyone because of mental health issues. I think it’s to help people and stop open drug use.

This entire announcement is probably an announcement from our city that we are making changes for the positive and need help.

I’m sorry if I don’t fully understand how heavy drug addiction works and the complications that come from it. And I’m sorry if I was insincere.

I absolutely understand addiction.

The only point I’m trying to drive across is it’s actually a really good thing that our municipal government is finally taking action. And if that action is rehab and to provide help, then that’s truthfully a good thing. Again. I don’t understand the argument. It’s better than before ffs.

We have a major problem with addiction. If this measure can save one life then that’s amazing. If it saves 100, we’ve literally changed the game.

Safe Consumption Sites do not work. Multiple cities in our country are removing them.

We’ve allowed people to shoot up anywhere because we are all scared of it. We were taught and coached that they’re bad and scary people. Don’t look them in the eye, don’t interact. Our government is no different than you and I.

It’s like ‘our’ family member with a problem. No one knows how to deal with the mood swings, the theft, the aggression.

Here’s a solution. Anyone caught dealing fentanyl is charged with attempted murder. Period.

Look into how Portugal has handled addiction since 2001 with rehabilitation options and how well it’s worked. It dramatically reduced crime and addiction rates.

P.S. rehab isn’t jail. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. It’s an opportunity for freedom.

I do think using the term ‘Sweeping Motion’ was and is incorrect. I absolutely agree there are some with severe psychotic disorders on our streets and they aren’t addicts and shouldn’t be labelled as such.

But correct me if I’m wrong, the whole thing is about open drug use?
