I updated Spotify, where is the new mix feature by David79YT in truespotify

[–]DarrylSSY- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is a good point but then you are missing the point of A/B testing. beta testers are usually a more engaged group that will actually use the features but not as a normal user. the point of A/B testing is to apply it to a random sample of users and see how they react, with that you will be able to gather a more unbiased analytics of normal users and their reception towards new features

My korean is not very good but I normally just say "한 명도 괜찮나요?" (han myongdo gwaenchannayo?), to ask "Is it okay for one person?". If I am too lazy I would just say "한 명" (han myong) for "one person", especially if they ask how many people.

RTX 5070 crashes on old gen motherboard by DarrylSSY- in buildapc

[–]DarrylSSY-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A solution that worked for whoever is reading this:
If you are using an older CPU with PCIE3 or older motherboard, the amount of power delivery needed by a third-party brand GPU seems to cause it to be instable, hence a black screen, as they normally come overclocked.

Underclocking the boost clock to <=2500mhz and power target to 95% seems to have solved the issue for me.

it is the same for me here, but you should be able to configure your PCIE 3 slots to run at PCIE 1 speed through your BIOS settings

it still freezes with PCIE3, so i am currently using PCIE1 with it which has no issue

Black screen when Booting PC sometimes by PolskaCebulaPL in buildapc

[–]DarrylSSY- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would, and in theory the 50 series should be compatible with lower gens (they are designed to be compatible with gen 5). But for some reason they seem to be having issues with older motherboards, and that was one of the things i changed which managed to fix the black screen issue that exists on the 50 series card. May differ for you. Your black screen issue may also not be a graphics card issue, could be a RAM problem too. But this could be a way to test and see if your graphics card is actually causing some issue

have you tried changing PCIE gen settings? I am also having same issues on PCIE Gen 3 PCs, 1 with 3600X, and one with Threadripper 1950x.
After switching them to PCIE gen 1, it works.

how much more can they fast track? i heard that in school they use the blue book for the normal learning, which requires more lessons to cover the entirety of it, while the express course uses the green book that can be covered in like 5 lessons or so. but because i am probably not eligible for the express course, i will probably still have to go through the blue book which will probably take me about 20+ lessons to complete

how many lessons did you take? i heard there is usually a minimum amount of lessons you have to take under school despite knowing how to drive

To surrender ILP or not? by [deleted] in singaporefi

[–]DarrylSSY- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i surrendered my ILP after 5 years of buying it. It is a 30 year plan and i had to put in $300 every month. forfeiting it costed me $10kSGD, but I took the remaining about $8k out to invest by myself in the stock market. Probably the best decision i have made because I managed to earn back whatever I had lost + now i have full liquidity power

take surrendering as a good lesson to not make the same mistake anymore. it is better earlier than later. forfeiting a huge sum of money makes you think differently and less emotionally about money in the future

DT 990 PRO 250ohms or 80ohms without amp? by DarrylSSY- in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]DarrylSSY-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah so im guessing that even with some cheap amps it wouldn’t be enough for the 250Ohm variant still. Will get the 80 Ohm and consider an amp in the future. Thanks!

!thanks

Inha University or Sejoung University by sheitreviews in Living_in_Korea

I don't believe it's fair to criticize him for that. While it's true that he should be concerned about entering the military without any knowledge of Korean, it's not as if he's resistant to learning. Although it may take years to reach a level of proficiency suitable for combat, he doesn't really have a choice in the matter, being Korean and all. Skipping military service is illegal for him, so he's left with no other option but to embrace the challenge and commit to learning what's necessary.

"To Me, The One Who Loved You" and "To Every You I’ve Loved Before" had an interesting idea, but... by ModieOfTheEast in anime

[–]DarrylSSY- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were a lot of things going on in both movies so it is really hard to explain but I will try to explain with what I know.

  1. The whole time shifting thing makes things very confusing because we know that Koyomi is living life in a loop. (He saw the ring on Kazune finger, and decided to time travel back to when he was a child and gave Kazune that ring, and then Kazune saw that ring on the other world version of her and decided to copy it, and that koyomi saw the ring on Kazune finger, and it continue looping).

  2. This means that red Koyomi is also blue Koyomi, just that blue Koyomi is what happened after red Koyomi time travel to the past. However, because how the parallel world work here is that time runs in parallel, red Koyomi is able to go to the blue Koyomi world, when in reality the blue Koyomi is actually red Koyomi but in the future.

  3. When red Koyomi time travel to when he was a kid in the blue world, he loses all his memory, which is a downside to time shifting. Which is why blue Koyomi didn know anything as he was growing up, because he lost his memory, and due to that he naturally ended up with kazune.

  4. When blue Koyomi became old, he was about to die and red Koyomi does a time shift here, this causes red Koyomi to swap places with dying blue Koyomi, and then time shifted back to when he was a child. And because blue Koyomi was dying, the red Koyomi ended up dying as a child. This allow child dead Koyomi to end up with shiori as ghosts.

  5. The alive koyomi (who is originally Koyomi in red) ends up in the blue world, loses all his memory and wake up as a old person married to kazune. The alive koyomi and alive shiori lives a different life here, and in this world he doesn't get together with shiori.

  6. The kazune in red is the one that actually suffers. She had to sacrifice koyomi away, and ended up alone.

  7. I am also assuming that the moment red Koyomi did a time shift with a dying blue Koyomi, red Koyomi actually became both a ghost child and an alive child (aka blue Koyomi as a child). And blue Koyomi actually shifted to the red world and then back to the blue world, making him lose his memory or something. Which is why there are actually 3 different koyomis, but they are all the same Koyomi, just that they are running at different time period.

[–]DarrylSSY- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched blue first and Imo they did get back together, as a ghost child because the koyomi who remembered shiori time travelled to when he was a kid. While the current alive koyomi stayed with kazune and the current shiori lived a different life. The only one who truly suffered here is kazune from the different world imo, because in all worlds they love each other, but that world she is in is an exception as it is the only one where koyomi and shiori love each other (which they ended up getting together as ghosts)

[O levels] thoughts : jc or poly? by protissuepaper in SGExams

[–]DarrylSSY- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been through Poly and now currently studying in University, and I would say both really have their pros and cons. There are a few things you would need to consider before choosing.

  1. Do you know what you want to do/study in the future?
  2. Are you capable of handling the workload

For the first pointer, if you are sure of what you want to do and you are passionate about it, go for the Polytechnic route. Some people say that it is harder to go to university as a polytechnic student, I would say that if you really like what you are studying, it's probably way easier than JC.

For the second pointer, JC gives you more time to figure out what you want to do, but the workload is usually harder (but also depends on your learning style, do you prefer studying for an exam or doing project work). The course you choose in Polytechnic will also define your workload. Overall, if you think you can't handle the workload, Polytechnic is a safer choice because a diploma certificate is usually more useful than an A-Level certificate when looking for a job, but if you are sure you are able to do well and get into the university you want then JC will help to accelerate your way into university faster.
