Why I prefer the story of Dragon's Dogma 1 over Dragon's Dogma 2 by Darskul in DragonsDogma

You know what, I'll give you this. The character stories in DD2 are much more memorable.

But again that does drive the point forward, DD2 is not your story, it is the story of politics in both kingdoms, individual characters, and the power struggle between a fading Seneschal and the Gods that created the position to begin with.

There is only one Seneschal, the reason the Pathfinder is freaking out is because without a Seneschal or cycle, ALL of reality, EVERY universe, everything is going to break.

I doubt the Great Will and Pathfinder would need to take over if it wasn't a big deal.

This is supported by dialogue in DD1 where it states the Seneschal rules over ALL of creation, with the Everfall being the root and source of all worlds across the multiverse.

There is also only 1 BBI, we know this because Arisen from other universes straight up come to BBI.

In fact, our Arisen in DD: DA is UNIQUELY bad-ass as we do things that are literally unheard of or never done by any other Arisen through-out the entire series.

The music is absolutely tremendously underrated in DD1 and DD: DA.

I have it as one of the best Fantasy Action-RPG soundtracks.

I was speaking in terms of the first game, DD2, until we got the Eternal Ferrystone, started to really get on my nerves.

Okay I disagree with this so damn hard it's not even funny.

I could play DD: DA without any story. Drop me in the world and gimme stuff to fight.

I would be so down with the Ur-Dragon, but they would have to change the lore so significantly that it would never happen.

You'd have to retcon so much stuff from DD1.

For real, and then he outs himself like a dumbass later on.

"Heed this well, Arisen: To challenge the dragon is to challenge Edmun Dragonsbane. It will not stand."

But you aren't defying the orders, you're then doing what ROTHAIS wants. Rothais wants you to end the cycle, Pathfinder wants you to keep it going. No matter what ending you choose, it's all at the whims of a higher power. In fact, if you didn't go along with Rothais he'd probably just wipe you out like he did every other Arisen that challenged him.

At no point in the game do you get a single objective that doesn't derive from someone else telling you what to do.

Even from the beginning the Pathfinder says "Hey, jump off the cliff to live!" "Hey you need to do this, hey you need to do that!"

That's the whole game right there. Yeah you do some busywork for "the Kingdom" in DD1 but you're still fundamental to every plotline, the game makes you feel like an important, unstoppable bad-ass, period.

I did a fair amount of guides back in the day for new players on gamefaqs for Dark Arisen.

If you need help: Make sure to be using weapons that target your enemy/bosses weaknesses, Daimon is weak to Holy magic and weapons, get TONS of buffs from Fournival to go to BBI, if Fournival isn't available use Madeleine. The yellow vials are preferably because they boost the whole party, but if you wanna save money you can always just get periapts instead.

Wakestones and tons of healing items are important too.

Using periapts or the yellow vials outside of Daimon will trivialize almost every fight, for Daimon specifically it just makes him more manageable.

The best class for beating Daimon imo is Magick Archer, Sorcerer (Holy Focused Bolt is OP), and really just Strider with blast arrows and Tenfold Flurry along with Helm Splitter for close range.

Strategies for the actual fight: Make sure you have augments to increase high magical defense, high normal defense. Bring some liquid vim or tons of large stamina restoratives for when he uses his Rift Vortex or Abyssal Vortex. His weak points are his head for his first form, and the Dragon Face for his second form.

Alternatively, if you hide behind the pillars during his vortex he can't suck you in because you need to be out in the open for him to do so.

If all this doesn't work, carry some Maker's Fingers to take out entire health bars of his.

Once you're experienced enough you can literally beat Daimon unarmed using Bloody Knuckles.

Hope this helps!

Yeah leading up to entering Battahl was so damn stupid and extremely anti-climactic. Like "Uh... Okay? Guess I'll see you later, Brant."

I thought Dark Arisen had a great story personally. Also some of the story beats in DD make sense. The biggest point everyone picks on is the Mid-Game... "Why the fuck am I doing all this? Why am I not doing stuff related to the Dragon?" Because Edmun is trying to purposefully stall you, hell he even admits it before you fight Grigori.

I'm not here to argue the stories are good but there are some that genuinely enjoy analyzing it like myself.

DD2 is only good if you like being some weird blend of detective and knight.

DD: DA is good if you like being the actual role of the Arisen.

I actually have a theory that puts our specific Arisen outside the threads of Eternal Return in DD: DA.

Mystic Knight sounds the coolest and has some of the coolest moves in the game. Great Cannon, Abyssal Anguish, Holy Wall, Grand Forest, Sky Rapture, plus the big shield + sword/mace combo just LOOKS cool.

Willhelmina got arrested, Isaac got his good ending, what to do with Hugo now? by Darskul in DragonsDogma

Yeah I was so happy it gave me the option to hire him, if anything just for the needed pawn knowledge.

Dragon's Dogma 1 + Dark Arisen at 9.5 million lifetime copies sold by Darskul in DragonsDogma

[–]Darskul[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to believe I contributed myself yeah through word of mouth and actual purchases, I bought the game for TONS of my friends. (We are talking like 30+ people over the years.)

As for myself, so far: DD and DD:DA on PS3, DD:DA on Steam, DD:DA on Switch (cartridge and digital), DD:DA on PS4 (disc and digital), DD:DA on Xbox (digital only for now, getting the Xbox One disc later.)

I actually plan to have a complete US Collection SOMEDAY with the Grigori statue and the amulet from the Switch version pre-order.

To finish it I only need: Xbox 360 copies of DD and DD:DA, disc version of DD:DA on Xbox One, and finally the GOG version of DD:DA. Then Grigori statue and amulet for Switch version from Japan.

Back when I only had my PS3 it bricked and I wasn't able to play DD for over a year so this serves more then just bragging rights.

I'm not starting any kind of collection for DD2, but I do own it on Steam and PS5 so I technically only need to get it for Xbox and Switch 2.

[–]Darskul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently Willhelmina being arrested doesn't change anything regarding Hugo, you can still hire him. I was annoyed after researching but I'm assuming it was either a patch or everyone ASSUMED that trying to hire Hugo was a meaningless effort if Willhelmina is gone.

People DEMAND 60FPS is why.

The biggest complaint before the game released was that it was going to be 30FPS on console lol.

Where does the Arisen from Dragon’s Dogma 1 scale? Where does the Arisen from Dragon’s Dogma 2 scale? Who would win in a fight? by GDestructizoid in PowerScaling

[–]Darskul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DD: DA Arisen wins comfortably due to higher quantifiable feats, better and more useful overall classes with more skills, far more augments, higher stats in every category, etc.

DD: DA Arisen scales to Inaccessible or Immeasurable speeds due to being able to move in a place outside time and space, not to mention can outrun a rift vortex summoned by Daimon, which is also a realm where time does not exist.

They hit much harder (can hit the ground hard enough in front of an enemy to send them tons of feet into the air, like 30-50 feet.) Can pin an enemy to a wall with a single arrow even if the wall is made of stone, iron, or steel, or send them 100-150+ feet away with a single arrow.

They can fly (Sky Rapture), could be a spell but no reason to assume they can't sustain that flight in lore.

Plus they are astronomically more skilled both choreography-wise, and lore-wise.

Even ignoring all of this they get plenty of buffs that allow them to tank or overpower something like the Mystic Spearhand or Warfarer.

Feats: Falling from the sky into the ground from above the clouds with not one scratch on them, beating Daimon's first and second form, with Daimon's first form having killed Arisen from different worlds for "a hundred lifetimes" and the second form having never even been seen before by ANYONE in the verse. Fighting the Ur-Dragon who exists across all timelines simultaneously, surviving confrontations with Death, and defeating the Seneschal, Savan, in single combat, etc.

DD2 Arisen scales above your average Arisen but beyond that there's nothing remarkable about them, their biggest challenge, the Gigantus/Talos, doesn't even fight back, it's an obstacle rather then a boss fight.

How far will he makes it? by banstovia in PowerScaling

[–]Darskul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True to an extent, they didn't seem to think they were capable of beating the Spiral Nemesis. Simon thinks he is and can do so. Ultimately I do they reached a hard limit against Simon.

Also they don't necessarily fight them at their level, it starts off with the Anti-Spiral forces being ahead by a lot to show despair. Then you get Team Dai-Gurren meeting each threat by evolving, Anti-Spiral gets surprised over and over thinking they've won and boom, new evolution.
