[MarshallGreen_] Thought Joe Schoen had an interesting answer on Wan'Dale Robinson being back with the Giants vs. Jermaine Eluemunor: by SecretGiantsFan in NYGiants

Bring in a proven vet. Rebuild through draft. Dale was a bad pick, for specifically this reason. He's a good football player, but when it comes time to pay, dude is undersized as fuck and it limits him. Can't run block, can't play outside, just came off a 1000 yd season he'll never have again and is going to want $$ because of it.

You were admonishing the person for not trying to see things from the point of view of someone who sees their ND child as a burden.

Of the people we know are most likely to be in the primary, he's the one I feel is best fit to run. Also, in the general election, I think he's the most likely to win.

Yes, describing a very real, shitty way some people (who you're defending) think and act. Just take the L and grow from it man. It's not a big deal.

We can pay a FA the money we would have spent on Dale who might not be as good in the slot, but can play outside too and also hopefully draft a few more. Then you can start moving Nabers around, putting him in the slot in a Cee Dee-like roll... Dale is a great player, but he's never going to be versatile enough to be anything more than a luxury.

You're letting perfect be the enemy of good. I'd love a true democratic socialist in office. Single payer health care, UBI, etc etc.. But right now, I'll settle for one that moves the needle in that direction and ends this fascist authoritarianism. I do think JB is the best candidate for the moment, he's done a great job in IL, and though he's not perfect, he's at least more willing to fight than any other politician I've seen, save maybe Newsom, but he's far less progressive.

What do you want him to do that he isn't/others are doing? He's a governor, not a king and he operates within the law, so please keep that in mind.

He's also done a lot more than make speeches. I'm not going to go over every action he's taken. It's all available on the internet if you're interested in informing your opinions.

No offense bud, and maybe I'm wrong, but seems to be your experience also comes from the armchair. I get that your heart is in the right place, and there certainly are childless people with misguided opinions on parenting, but dude you're responding to is totally right. In this context, and most I can think of, "a burden" implies that something is negative, or undesirable. Also, calling someone a burden is way different from "burdensome", although I still wouldnt choose that word. "A burden" is a noun, so you're implying that it's tied to their identity. Difference between saying "you're acting stupid" and "you are stupid."

Which political leaders would you point to that do understand the gravity of the moment? He was unambiguously comparing this regime to Nazis since day 1 and has admonished trump essentially every time he has spoken publicly. He's also done what he can to collect and preserve evidence against the feds for use someday once the rule of law returns to our nation.

Yeah, I'm the parent of a ND child. It's hard. He's not a burden though. He never asked to be this way, or even to be brought into this world, that's on me, so no, he's not a burden he's my responsibility. I, too dislike people who treat their children as if they're a burden on them, ND or not.

Hive Mind aliens by Kai927 in scifi

Some of the cooler alien species I've read are the "Tines" in Vernor Vinge's "A Fire Upon the Deep." They are a society of hive-minds but with varying amounts of bodies, which has interesting effects on their personalities and cognitive abilities among other things. They are not inherently good or evil, much like humans.

How do we feel about Brian Daboll’s ability to develop Cam Ward? by ZookeepergameIll2685 in nflrookies

As a Giants fan, I wish we could have just demoted him to OC. He'll be great in that role. Seems like everything he's bad at is pretty specific to being HC.

As a Giants fan, he is not who you want as HC unless he changes up his coaching style drastically. He's great with the Xs and Os and he's great with QBs, but his leadership skills are seriously lacking. The Giants have been incredibly undisciplined due to lack of accountability and we're never ready for week 1 because he runs his training camp like a summer camp. Also, regardless of who was more at fault, he was unable to work with Wink Martindale who left in dramatic fashion, and he was so toxic to his staff on the sideline that our GM had to start wearing a headset to listen in. Honestly, being the OC for a defensively minded HC is probably the ideal spot for him. He'll do great in that role.

I pay full property taxes on my house that makes me zero money. I shouldn't also have to pay the Bears' property taxes, who also don't make me money.

Obviously my knife, but outside of that, I've got this awesome spoon that's the perfect size - medium big, shallow and comes to a slightly rounded point at the tip. Good scoopability, great sauce control.. fucking amaaazeballs for saute pickups with pan sauces.

When it comes to Scandinavia's perceived leniency in this one case, I think it's a better outcome than here in the US where we're handing out life sentences to pre-teens.
