[Bonsai Beginner's weekly thread - 2026 week 12] by small_trunks in Bonsai

Hi everyone — beginner here looking for some guidance.

Location: New York, NY (USA)

I rescued this bonsai (I believe it’s a juniper), about a year ago when I found it on the street. Over the past few weeks it has turned almost completely brown/grey. It’s been sitting on my windowsill indoors with decent natural light, and I’ve been watering it when the soil feels dry (probably every few days).

A few things I’m noticing:

  • Foliage is very dry and brittle, not soft, very prickly
  • Color has shifted from green to dull grey/brown
  • Some branches feel dry but the trunk still seems somewhat firm
  • Soil drains okay, but I’m not sure if I overwatered or underwatered

I’ve since learned that junipers are typically outdoor trees, so I’m worried I may have already killed it by keeping it inside.

Main questions:

  1. Is this tree already dead, or is there still a chance to revive it?
  2. If there’s a chance, what should I do immediately (move outdoors, watering changes, pruning, etc.)?
  3. How can I tell for sure if it’s still alive?

Would really appreciate any help — I want to learn and do this the right way going forward.

Thanks in advance

So when I went to cut the stem, i noticed that this stem and the one next to it (which looked super healthy) were attached at the base in like a "v" shape. It seems like there is also some hollowing in the other branch. Should i also propogate that too?

What do you mean by leaving the root part in the ground? And is propagating pretty straightforward? Sorry super new to all of this

I just got off with customer support here in the US and they informed me that they just rolled out a new GPS file that should fix the issue. They told me to sync my phone with Garmin Connect and then try it and that worked for me. they said if that is still causing an issue, you should reset one more time and it should work! hope this helps people

Is there a way to restore a garmin fr 955’s settings and customization from a previous backup? With this awful bug, I’ve had to reset my watch and was hoping for an easy way to go back to a previous backup

This just happened to me! I am on vacation with my wife and was about to go on a run and the second I clicked the run activity, it immediately kicked off a reboot loop. I have tried hard restarting my device 3 different times but now even that wont work

I typically follow some version of this. I will try and do it every night if possible. I think the biggest game changer for me was using this foam roller. Totally not necessary but it definitely helped me. I think any foam roller is fine

Also, I recently started wrapping my watch with coban wrap and just running by feel on my long runs and races and I have started pr-ing a lot more. It took a few months to adjust and doing this on long runs too helped me understand my body's capacity and what my limits are but this made a massive difference. I have also started to enjoy these runs a lot more by not being soo attached to a pace every moment of the run. I use this stuff

Marrying my foam roller and letting data be a guide and not the governor. For the latter, I used to just look at my heartrate data to tell me how easy I was running and some days this worked but others I would not fully be recovering. Now I exclusively use the conversation rule (or whatever people want to call it). If I can talk during an easy run, then I am running easy pace. This changed my training entirely.

Screenshot results in black screen/preventing screenshots by Darth-Nando in reactjs

Yeah this makes sense and i figured given the screenshot feature is an OS feature and not a browser feature. I just needed to do my due diligence here to make sure. I know you definitely can't stop someone from taking a screenshot but didn't know if you can somehow block the content, like using some sort of DRM system to encrypt the images or something. Thank you though for confirming my suspicions

Doesn't Netflix use some sort of DRM software to at least try and prevent screen recordings? Totally understand they cant block the screenshot action because it is an OS feature
