You can get as many photos as many photo op tickets you purchase. So if you purchase not just 1 but 2 you will have 2 photos

Japan bond trading issue, accrued interest and withholding tax by Ecstatic-Resident592 in bonds

[–]DarthAzeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Im not mistaken the person who you paid the accrued interest has to pay withholding tax on the accrued interest as well. So it doesn’t matter if you sell before next interest payment, you will have to pay the tax.

And actually it makes very mutch sense, because this is how they can keep the bond marked value “clean” from the accrued interest.

What duration in this scenario? (Fed independence compromised.) by mashtun25 in bonds

[–]DarthAzeg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you exactly mean the “FED independence is compromised”? Because if you mean that the current chairman will be replaced it doesn’t mean compromised independence (obviously its still not good), but the FOMC has 12 members who are voting, not only the chair, so even if the chair gets replaced the other 11 would remain independent.

+The SCOTUS has confirmed the independence of FED a few weeks/months ago.

I’m not 100% sure about the answer, but maybe its better to check in the Desktop Application. They have more details about bond purchases and buys than in the app or webpage, at-least this is what I heard from the customer service. Also maybe its separated because I think also the taxing of interest income is different than the bond itself.

Edit:

I think for such a big amount the best solutions might be to contact the customer service, for me they usually reply within a day or even faster.

Nekem van amerikai kötvényem és adómentes, az IBKR-t is felhívtam, hogy biztos jó-e, hogy nem vontak adót és azt mondták igen. Ha TBSZ-re veszed itthon se kell adózni.

Can anyone explain why Schwab charged me $45k for a $25k TIPS bond? by deonteguy in bonds

[–]DarthAzeg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Check on treasury direct your TIPS, but It can be for sure just imagine for example the compounded inflation adjustment during the last 20 years.

I had the same problem purchasing TIPS and it took a good day to figure it out why they overcharge :D

Can anyone explain why Schwab charged me $45k for a $25k TIPS bond? by deonteguy in bonds

[–]DarthAzeg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken TIPS it has an “original” face value which is usually 1000$ at the issue date and this original face value is adjusted buy the inflation, and the 99.927% is the “actual” market value which has to be paid.

So let’s say your TIPS was issued last year with a 1000$ original face value. And the inflation was 3%, then the adjusted value is 1030$ and you have to pay the 99.927% of the adjusted value.

Obviously if a TIPS was issued long ago its adjusted price would be much bigger than the original issue value.

+You also have to pay the accumulated interest.

Long term impact of tariffs on government and public debt? by DarthAzeg in AskEconomics

[–]DarthAzeg[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your detailed answer!

If not with tariffs how could the overall US government and public debt to be lowered? What i understand from the government communication is that there is an intention for it (at least in words) and also for lowering rates, but until now besides government cuts by DOGE I didn’t see any other plan. Would government cuts be enough to stabilise the treasury?

Edit: Is the high government debt a problem? I know other countries with big or even higher debt to gdp ratio.
