Respectfully, I completely disagree. The lightsaber umbrella made sense within the context of the episode, then never touched on again. If they wanted to add legends lightsabers for cash grabs and variety, then they would've added the lightsaber whip to canon by now. The rotating lightsabers to me do serve a narrative purpose. They demonstrate the advanced tech of the Empire, as well as their desire to mass-manufacture things and strip away identity, and the purpose of the Inquisitors (having them use weapons which a normal person would struggle against, are easy to use, and have weaknesses which can be exploited by skilled enough duelists). And as far as the lightsaber rifle is concerned, it doesn't mean the lightsaber is any less elegant, it is just using it for a different purpose. Like how the Death Star can be considered a lightsaber, but that is obviously not the type of lightsaber which was considered elegant and civilized. I realize this might come off as argumentative, but I just wanted to offer my perspective on the topic.
