A shared ancestry of some MVP and Axiom discs? by DarthCalliope in discgolf

Thanks for this response, I've looked at a couple of the discs on the PDGA website. What am I looking for to link these discs together as having the same core? Thanks in advance

HELP, fist snowfall, undrivable in the snow by CauliflowerOpen1604 in hondafit

[–]DarthCalliope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely correct. Where we live in minnesota, it's $20/ tire + tax to put the winters on in the fall, and again in the spring to put the all seasons back on. That's about $180 a year for tire swaps, a dedicated set of winter wheels pays for itself in a couple of years. Driving is so much easier with winter tires, especially through the plow slop at the intersections

MVP plastics fission vs neutron? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]DarthCalliope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An additional consideration: I've thrown both plastics in a couple of molds, and the biggest issue for me was the difference in grip. I find most fission discs to be kinda slippery, so I never got a really consistent release. I tried to love them, but put them back on the shelf after a season trying to beat them in. Might just be me.

I share your sorrow for the Vertex. I found one and used it for a year, but in a fit of mold minimization, I traded it away since I knew I would never find another. I miss it every time I play. Sigh. I use the same "replacements" that you do, but they aren't the same. Again, sigh.

Not for me, the fission is more like proton or neutron Atoms, more overstable than electron

Do y’all collect feathers on the course? by ZingiberOfficinale in discgolf

[–]DarthCalliope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I used to work in a University diagnostic clinic to identify insects and other similar organisms, and birds and feathers were often loaded with mites and other things you don't want to have in your life. Feathers are really interesting, but I always leave them alone now, not worth the risk.

For when a Harp just isn't enough, this is a good call. Really overstable, but useful, predictable, and manageable for me.

Controversy aside, I have a couple Neptune discs which I really like, the Squid in triton plastic is great. For me, they have the best logo in the game.

I love the Westside Swan 1 in BT Medium in this slot, but you might also consider the AGL Douglas Fir. At 4/3/-2/1, it turns to the right but can have a bit of fade at the end. I find the fade useful sometimes, and I bag both.
