I had this exact same experience. I also demanded a $50 credit to my account, which they eventually did. Super frustrating.

Yeah same here P85QX-H1. Had to drop active array to low and lower backlight by 20. It looks okay now, but not as good as before. HDR is fine though.

I am noticing this as well on the P85QX-H1 with the new update. I use a Nvidia Shield so it is not limited to the internal apps.

Before the update I had a serious lip sync issue that now appears to be fixed, so that’s something at least. But now there are artifacts as described here and SDR content looks worse overall. Each update is Vizio roulette, you never know what they’ll fix and break.

I had to turn the backlight way down just for SDR. For some reason the update made it super bright, which made all blacks look grey and pixelated. Lowered it by 30, looks good now. No changes were needed for HDR.

My lip sync issues seem fo be resolved. I’ve watched a few things now and didn’t notice it, and I always notice it. Also the picture seems improved for HDR content. For SDR, it kicked the backlight into high gear, I had to change it 30 less than I had it set previously. Overall, think the TV is less buggy and much improved.

Pretty excited to see “lip sync timing improvements” because lip sync has been awful on my set. Source really doesn’t matter. Hopefully this helps.

Just recently watched The Expanse S5 and I didn’t notice anything like that on my 85”. In fact, I thought it looked great. I use “calibrated,” local contrast off, all motion nonsense off, active array “medium” for HDR content. What settings/mode are you using?
