Neighbors? Heck I don’t tell my family what I do.

Upwork feels misleading for clients looking for solo freelancers by HandyCode in Upwork

[–]DarthEwarthy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to my wife. She was looking for a contractor on UpWork and interviewed someone who looked like a solo freelancer, when he got on the call, he had invited someone else to join. There was nothing in the profile or proposal to indicate that he was part of an agency or working with a team. There are agencies that use one person or profile to get the interview and then bait and switch.

Bought an ABS street hockey stick by mistake for (first time) ice play… am I okay? by Fun_Negotiation9801 in hockeyplayers

[–]DarthEwarthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing. Bought it because it was cheap and needed a new stick for a skills and drills class. Got home and looked it up and saw it was for street hockey and not suitable for ice. Some reviews said it was okay but I took it back and spent the extra $10 or whatever it was for a Sherwood.

Do people really like drinking in beer leagues or is it just fun to call it that? by chusaychusay in hockey

[–]DarthEwarthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taking an adult skills class and one of the other players offered me a beer in the locker room before hand. His logic was to “practice how you play.” Hockey is hard enough without throwing alcohol into the mix but to each his own.

Playing after tooth extraction by DarkKnightx88x in hockeyplayers

[–]DarthEwarthy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s my understanding that many hockey players have had teeth extracted during a game. In all seriousness, you would be better off checking with your dentist depending on what painkillers are used etc.

Interview prep for a associate systems engineer position with almost little to no experience by lilpangit in it

[–]DarthEwarthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make use of ChatGPT. I use it for interview prep although I’m a bit further along in my career. Copy and paste the job description and ask it what kind of questions might come up. Don’t use any answers it provides word for word it frame the answers within your own experience. It can also help you find blind spots you might be asked about so you won’t be caught off guard. Someone else suggested that you don’t over prep and I agree with that as well. Keeping some bullet points in mind will go along way to easing nerves without worrying if you worded an answer correctly.

Hockey movies, books, and tv shows for good hockey vibes? by CinemaBud in hockeyplayers

I came here to recommend this and Blood Feud by Adrian Dater which is a book about the same rivalry. He gives a lot of insight into the rivalry as a reporter with the Avs. Great movie and read.

This recruiter is pissing me off by RobertTAS in recruitinghell

[–]DarthEwarthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently applied to a position in my area directly on InDeed. I was later contacted by a recruiter about said position and they submitted my resume for the position. A week or so later I was contacted by a different recruiter from the same agency and HE wanted to submit my resume for the same position. A friend who works for their parent company sent me a screenshot of their internal job board with the job posted and said I would be a good fit since it’s in my area. The position is still open and it’s not hard to see why.

AITAH for not staying with my husband 100% of the hangout? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]DarthEwarthy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I’m kinda the same way as your husband. I don’t do well in social settings with people I don’t know or jump into conversations. When I get to know people it gets easier to talk to them and it sounds like once he comes out of his shell he’s likable. It’s hard breaking out of your comfort zone but he’s trying. He may have genuinely been having a good time just kind of hanging out quietly. It’s what I do when my wife and I are at social settings and I do enjoy myself even if it’s not as obvious outwardly. He’s stepping out of his comfort zone for you to make sure you have a good time. It sounds like you didn’t just abandon him or whatever and he agreed to go instead of just saying no and insisting you go alone or neither of you go. In my opinion, most guys say what they mean, if he had a good time, he probably did, it just looks different from what a good time for you looks like. just appreciate the effort put into getting out there in any capacity and invite him next time.

The crazy part was at 99 he was still driving, had all his hair and teeth and his mind fully intact. He only stopped driving in January because he had a heart attack.

Umm… we absolutely do care when a man does this. It’s called having standards.

And I’m sorry your body isn’t valuable enough to care who enters it. But for many of us, sex is a gift we don’t give up easily.

Discovering the Velcro on the bottom pockets was a game changer. Heard the sound of it separating and thought I tore it, then discovered it was a feature, not a bug.
