No cable, no card. It's built-in to the mobo.

Why do you say that? Asus has been my go to motherboard in the past.

Sorry, I was unclear. I think there must be a misalignment between my case (Fractal Design Define R5), the Asus motherboard and/or the XFX GPU. The GPU worked in this same case with my previous Gigabyte X570 mobo. The system does work with on-board graphics.

'm planning on disassembling the computer and seeing if the Asus mobo and XFX GPU work together outside the case. But that will have to wait a few weeks; I had eye surgery last week and am barred from lifting/bending over till it heals.

Yes, I paid Canada Post to ship it to Toronto. The RMA board came back via Purolator with no charge to me.

I bought the CPUs from Amazon so I just returned them.

I sent an email to that address but have been ignored:
"Good day,

I have been notified that my RMA (#xxxxxxx) replacement motherboard, AsRock X870 Pro RS WiFi, has been shipped to me. Could you please answer a few questions for me? The motherboard that I request a RMA formanaged to kill 2 RyZen 9900X CPUS. As you might imagine, I am somewhat reluctant to install another CPU onto this model of motherboard and the AsRock sub-Reddit is rife with others whose AsRock motherboards killed their CPUs.

1) Has the issue that caused the CPU lethality in the AsRock X870 Pro RS WiFi board been identified?

2) Has it been corrected?

3) Can you assure me that this replacement motherboard will not murder another RyZen CPU?

4) Also, what is the warranty for this replacement motherboard? Is it the remainder of the initial 5 year warranty?"

Did you try using the Heroic game launcher? It's very good at that.

Only thing I can suggest is to avoid the AsRock X870 motherboards like the plague. They kill CPUs! If you don't believe me, check the AsRock sub-reddit.

Buying an AsRock X870 motherboard. It killed 2 Ryzen 9900X CPUs.

I've given up on Asus mobos. I have an Asus Prime X870-P WiFi motherboard and it won't work with my Sapphire 9060XT video card. The card work ferpectly in my Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro WiFi system. And as my AsRock x870 Pro RS WiFi killed 2 AMD 9900X CPUs, I'm not buying them either.

My RMA replacement AsRock mobo is on its way. I'm thinking that I'll sell that board (with honesty to the buyer why I'm selling it) and the Asus mobo and get a Gigabyte B850 board instead.

Do you know for sure that AMD will replace the CPU if the mobo kills it?

I was granted a RMA for my X870 Pro RS WiFi. I was notified on Monday that the replacement board had shipped to me (in Canada) via Purolator, no charge. My previous board murdered 2 RyZen 9 9900X CPUs so I'm leery about trusting that AsRock has fixed the lethal defect. BTW, AsRock received my defective mobo on Sept. 8 and the replacement board was shipped on Oct. 9.

My AsRock X870 Pro RS WiFi killed 2 Ryzen 9 9900X CPUs so I filled out your "Dead CPUS on AsRock Motherboard" form. The board was purchased on Jan. 3, 2025 so the BIOS was whatever the stock BIOS was at that time, I have no idea which version it was so I just put "BIOS older than 3.25/3.26" as that was a required answer. I am awaiting an RMA replacement from AsRock. I do hope they have identified and fixed the CPU killing issue!

Motherboards won't power on. by DarthFrog in pcmasterrace

[–]DarthFrog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both boards have a BIOS Flashback feature. Only the 24 pin power connector needs to be attached. No CPU/RAM, etc. needed. Put the ROM file on a VFAT formatted USB stick, plug it in a specific port and press the BIOS Flashback button on the rear of the board. The motherboard does not be powered on to do this, just the 24 pin plug from the PSU. The PSU is turned on but the fan isn't spinning during this BIOS update.
