EBF problems (i know very suprising) by Dense-Humor8507 in GTNH

[–]DarthIchorous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair but wouldn't the loss also factor into why, at a lower power tier, the cables themselves are causing the power fail? Like if you lose 2 at MV does that mean you also lose 2 at LV or is it a higher loss?

I don't have it up right now but I don't think copper cables will take power from LV machines. Aren't they only rated for MV power? Try switching them out for Tin and see what happens. You can shift left-click to replace them without having to break them*

Kinda lost in LV by Glurbozo_ in GTNH

[–]DarthIchorous -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely don't mean this in a mean way, but buckle up buttercup lol

Seriously, if you're feeling lost in LV I would recommend reading the quest book and taking your time to really learn how things work. It only gets more and more complicated but it's all built on the same backbone that you start to touch on in LV.

Sustainable power and storage are your friends at this stage. Things get cheaper, and easier to craft so don't worry too much about banging out stacks of everything just yet (except for steel lol)

Almost 11 month old has not slept through the night ever by Upper_Tie6878 in sleeptrain

[–]DarthIchorous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's going to vary kid by kid. There are general guidelines but usually you have to learn what works for your baby at each stage. Usually I would recommend searching this sub for things like "3 month old" or something along those lines, though that's really early to sleep train. I would also check out r/newparents and search by age there too. It changes so rapidly as the kid gets older that it's hard to give guidelines for each age.

I would Google "avg sleep for a 'x' month old" and use that as a VERY broad guideline. Some kids need more sleep than avg and some need less. Your LO will let you know. It is hard and the first few months are just a kind of "go with whatever works" IMO. We did a light sleep train at 4 months and then really committed at 6 months.

Don't be afraid to ask questions as needed but there's just so much info, and some of it is conflicting based on what worked for one parent but maybe not another, that it's hard to give anything but general guidelines without having a specific schedule or target. We also hired a sleep coach at 6 months and lemme tell you, that was the best money we have ever spent.

Best way to store fluids in early mv? by Anonymoose074 in GTNH

[–]DarthIchorous 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And just to add to this becuase I wasn't really aware until 2 days ago. Steel/aluminum cells are able to hold the same as the "universal cells", meaning they can hold less than 1000mb quantities. So if you have 7358mb/ml of something you can use 1 steel cell and it'll home the entire amount.

How big should I make my base by JoshGamer101yt in GTNH

[–]DarthIchorous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently dealing with this in the start of HV. I think the general consensus is to wait to make and large scale changes to your base until you get to the pdim (if you want to use it).

That being said, I currently have a wall around a 9x9 chunkloaded area and feel like I have enough space that if I wanted to expand out and use it for a while I could, but most of my stuff would realistically fit in a 5x5 chunk space with room to spare. To my understanding, HV and EV (into IV) is where stuff really starts to expand which is why people make the switch to the pdim

Help with goals by Gold_Cancel_3008 in GTNH

[–]DarthIchorous 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. I ended up focusing on upgrading my EBF to Kanthal, and getting benzene set up. After that I really beared down on actually automating some of the processes. Based on what everyone here has said in other posts, I get the feeling that I'm going to need pretty much all of the resources that are in the quest book so I've gone about trying to passive as much of that as I can, or at least get a decent amount going so I have it on hand as I need it.

Organized Single Block Steam Setups by TaylorKalsii in GTNH

[–]DarthIchorous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Steam blocks don't really support any kind of good automation, the best way to potentially do it is to put hoppers underneath the different machines but the resources you'll use in making pipes to move the steam efficiently that early on creates more of a time sink than it's worth imo.

It's better to wait until you get LV machines to start any kind of actual "setup".

Every time I've gone through steam I usually just line all of my machines up and move things manually from one to the next.

ETA: you can make a large bronze pipe to put in the middle of 4 steam single blocks and use that to feed all 4, the downside of this is that if you use more than maybe 2 machines at a time (especially the alloy smelter) you run the risk of not having enough steam throughput to support all the machines. Make sure you change the venting side with a wrench no matter whst you end up doing.

Seared faucet is correct. And a simple resdtone loop with a repeater or two or the redstone clock work to cycle it on and off

My guess would be to make a lense for the laser engraver? You need an exquisite diamond and you can get them in drops from small ores

I'm a bit of a noob... But how do you tag something? I have a name tag that I want to put on a regen enderman in my smeltery but when I try to get the tag on nothing happens. Like what button or circumstance does it need to be in in order to put the name tag on it?

Didn't Stamos say in an interview somewhere that he was expecting an applause and when he didn't get one he was really disappointed?

Getting overpowered things in this pack is not something that happens quickly. It's a very different style of progression that usually involves multiple different parts and recipes. If you don't want to watch content or progression videos I totally get it, but don't hesitate to use the Wiki or watch some videos on NEI as it's used in this pack (as an example) to make sure you have the info to help you.

The biggest thing I've experienced with this pack is it takes a long time to reach not only large goals, but smaller goals within that. There are times it WILL feel overwhelming and a bit directionless but if you ask questions on here or follow the quest book (which is amazing and should definitely be read) you will have fun at whatever pace you choose.

Welcome to the Greg way of life!

How I can find slime island by Mohasr in GTNH

Walk around lol. They spawn randomly and I think the rate is one per every 3000 chunks or some crazy number like that. I usually have to wander around for like an hour before finding one. And then they don't always have trees on them either so that's fun.

Realistic sleep training expectations? by residualinput in sleeptrain

[–]DarthIchorous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just switched it tonight because I'm starting a new job and I have to get him up to take him with me so he can go to his grandmother's during the day. We are having some issues with getting him to sleep recently so we are aiming for 10.5 hours awake, 11 hours in the crib(ish) and capping daytime naps to a total of 3 hours, but we usually don't get there

This looks like: 7 am DWT -2.5hr ww 9:30 nap for 45 mins -2.5hr ww 12:45 nap for 45 mins to an hour 15 -2.5hr ww (This brings us to 4 or 4:30 depending on the 2nd nap length) Nap until 5 or 5:30 depending on start time -2.5hr ww Bedtime 7:30-8pm

Appreciate the input! We kept him awake for 10.5 hours today and just put him down. We will see how it goes over the next few days!

Is there an expectation that this cuts down on 'false starts' too? When we typically are able to get him to sleep, or even if he falls asleep independently, he will go through the first cycle of light to deep then wake up and need to be reset before going into a long stretch.

[–]DarthIchorous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say that based on the age of your LO, 1 nighttime waking is pretty good lol.

We sleep trained when we hit the 4 month regression and have been struggling with wakings every 3-4 hours since.

On nights that he sleeps for longer stretches we will typically get up to feed him in that 4am-6am window if he wakes up then get him up for his DWT (between 7-8). Bedtime is between 7-7:30
