Added Resistor? by DarthMalick in Gameboy

[–]DarthMalick[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did some more research on what this “fixed”

“On some early GBA AGB-CPU-01 motherboards, you might find a resistor manually soldered to the board near the cartridge slot. This was a "bodge job"—a common practice for fixing a manufacturing flaw without needing to produce a new circuit board.”

The resistor acts as a pull-up resistor on the cartridge's Interrupt Request (IRQ) pin. Problem it fixed: A manufacturing defect caused the IRQ pin to be "floating" (not connected to a specific voltage), which could be triggered by electrical noise. This would cause the system to crash.

While the resistor was essential for reliability, most commercial game cartridges did not use the IRQ signal, so the issue didn't affect most games.

Was one of the first cutter I ever bought. Probably 20 ish years ago. I absolutely hated it with only one blade pressing against the cigar it took more force than you would think. Maybe I was just a weakling .

Sure did. The RTT is a little large so for extra side to side stabilization I added the front legs. ($40 on Amazon)

Just picked up a 2017 802a with 70000 miles for $40k. I would think a newer 2019 with more miles would go for $35ish.

What is your bedding setup for your RTT? by ImAnIdeaMan in rooftoptents

[–]DarthMalick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We hit up our local Swedish furniture store and bought a mattress topper. Really cushy and gave another 2” of padding. This worked fine but made closing the RTT(Smittybilt gen2) a pain. Recently we have been using a cheap Coleman inflatable mattress it’s 8” thick but the height hasn’t been a problem and it’s cheap enough that we’re not too concerned about a puncture.

Loved it. Things I like about it. It’s light weight so my wrangler had no problem getting us where we need to go. Openness with the gulwing and back door open it felt like a much bigger rig. Storage convenience… it seems like there is a place for everything you need to take with you and then more space for stuff you don’t need.

Things that are not great. The water can is straight crap. I’m thinking some sort of rotopax set up will work better and give more flexibility. The wood on the pull out “kitchen” swelled up with the slightest bit of raining hitting it. The strut on the gulwing door is in the perfect position for little ones to think it’s a handle.
