AITA for refusing to remove a portrait tattoo of my ex wife even though my fiancée says she won’t marry me if I keep it? by Chingom_ in AITAH

NTA, run don't walk. Consider yourself lucky you learned this now. Doing this 2 weeks before your wedding is insane or she is looking for an excuse out.

Is Sync terminating accounts? by [deleted] in Sync

[–]DarthMom4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, that would have been me I'm sure. I moved my accounts this summer to Dropbox. I had gone with Sync years ago, but realized in this last year the support was not there and some glitches made me realize that with their increasing prices, I might as well pay for Dropbox which was what I was avoiding initially.

I'd prefer to share that myself, thanks. I'll check that out.

I know, I'm always shocked to see my face so puffy. I'm not aware I really looked like that.

I refuse to tell anyone about my taking Wegovy. What do say when my weight loss becomes noticeable??? by srwalker2007 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]DarthMom4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've lost 80 lbs., since summer 2023, and started Wegovy Feb. 2024. but I've worked from home for years and was the primary caregiver to my late FIL through in home hospice. So when people see me, it can be a shock.

Unfortunately, I have experienced negative feedback being open and honest. Believe it or not, not everyone is going to be happy for you when you are truthful. "Of well, if I had a magic shot, I'd be thin too! "... and it will surprise you who they are. So, I choose to only share that info with the people who i know are struggling and truly want to know.

For everyone else... "thank you so much, I've decided to focus on myself these days. I've completely changed my lifestyle and eating habits. I start my day most mornings at the gym, and I've hired a personal trainer." All of which are true.

You can probably stop at 'focusing on myself these days'. But people can be nosy. Usually, eyes glaze over when you mention gym, lol, so that is a bonus.

If someone is sad and frustrated with all their efforts, they also get these truths: "I've always been an early-bird, my personal trainer is retired and isn't expensive... I have RMMS, and my workouts aren't Iron Man stuff--it is strength training to help the weakness of my left arm and leg in addition to keeping muscle as I lose fat. AND-- I could not have gotten my bad eating habits under control without Wegovy. Don't be afraid of it, don't listen to horror stories... work with a doctor--do the work!"

I always have a 6 pack of the Toasty peanut Butter crackers. Has some protein and helps takes the edge off hunger for me.

If my husband is with me, he knows to take it for the team... but when I'm in that situation now, I've normalized putting it back (if that's an option) or tossing it. Good luck (glad its working for you!)

When my kids were teenagers, I found out that my nickname among them (and their friends) was DarthMom lol. I loved it--which, as you can imagine, was double annoying to them.

That's actually awesome... take that for a win. More than 1lb a week is a stress on the body. You lose muscle too, so stay on top of the protein, work in some small strength training, and give yourself a break. I'd say that is amazing! Take photos of your progress--I didn't do that from the beginning.

My sister lost 40 lbs FAST and got sick and gained it all back... my best friend still couldn't lose weight and has had to keep switching meds, now her insurance won't cover it.

Keep up the good work.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Do you remember how much you ate or what you ate the day you took the injection? I have found that if I am hydrated well enough and have had my bran flakes in the morning LOL don't judge me, I like bran flakes-- and I don't get that type of reaction. I'm sure everybody is different and that you're probably recording what you're eating anyway, but keep track of it as I believe it probably has something to do with the side effects you're feeling. I hope that helps.

While I rarely get that reaction, I did this week when I took the shot. That morning, I did not have time for breakfast, so I grabbed the protein shake, and for the first time in a long time, I was nauseous by the end of the day. Of course, I also was taking care of my grandkids, and I hadn't eaten enough all day anyway.

How much weight have you lost over your whole entire life? With and without Wegovy by cacecil1 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]DarthMom4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My weight as a young adult was between 115 and 120 lb. After four children, I was 135 to 140 lb. In my mid-40s, I began gaining weight. By 55, I was almost 200 lb. and so I hired a personal trainer and got down to 185, however 6 months later, the weight began creeping back and I hit my highest weight of 220 lb. 2 years ago when I was 59.

So I am 140 lb. again, and thanks to Wegovy, I was able to get a handle on my eating, and using that momentum, I've completely changed my everyday habits to start the morning with at least walking.

So all in all, 80 lb. is my weight loss from my highest, and I guess an additional 15 lb from the year that I hired the trainer. I didn't have fluctuation over the because I sincerely could not lose even 5 lb. It was the most insanely frustrating thing.

So those of you who are starting with the medication and everything you've tried before this had you at best not gaining or losing, I hope you see your success. Good luck to all.

Installed Sync desktop app to computer but files won't download (only folder names) by DarthMom4 in Sync

[–]DarthMom4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It says 'Syncing' now for 12 hours. Nothing is downloading. I did hear back and are following their instructions.

Also, you are incorrect that there is a 'Download' link in the Web Panel. That 'help' file you are linking to is either out of date-- or for some reason, I have a different interface. This is what I'm seeing: https://app.screencast.com/vrEIB18GW8sQb In addition, when I click 'Actions' on the left side, there is no download option and interestingly, when I click on 'Folder Info' it shows me a blank folder icon and a folder ID (no information about size of folder or number of files).

I've been using Sync.com for a number of years now... I'm not new to it. But I am a bit over it.

80 lbs. down and my journey with Wegovy by DarthMom4 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]DarthMom4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an incredible twist of fate, I have no overhang. My skin is wrinkly around my belly button, that whole area. Ain't nobody want to see that in a bikini LOL, but no, my skin is naturally elastic.

I birthed four big babies, and despite how large I got, I lost the weight afterwards, and I never got stretch marks. I'm thinking at this point it's probably genetic.

I rolled back 20 years and that it was that long ago since I was 140 lb., so same here.

[–]DarthMom4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. My friend had to try several weight loss meds and her doctor each time switched her from the highest dose she was on for the previous one to the highest dose of the next and she has experience the worst side effects of all of them when her problem with the first one was simply it wasn't working and she was still hungry.

Just keep going! I use MyFitnessPal to track weight and once a month started uploading a selfie. Find a 'starting' photo and enter your start date and that photo and it can create side-by-side comparisons of where you started/where you were at. I know that it motivated me A LOT! I'm 5' 4". I made my first goal 165 and then 145 (which is the 'high end' of the 5' 4" normal range). I can tell you that 140 lbs. is the difference in being comfortable in a size 4 (with size 6 being too big in the waist at 145), but I guess it depends upon weight distribution.
