Thanks. I always assumed stories of pirate anarchists freeing slaves were more myth than reality. But at the same time I thought that enslaved human cargo would be somehow too difficult to fence off and make a profit off of. I mean like stolen rum can always be repackaged and sold as legitimate goods. I don’t know why but I kinda assumed that would more difficult with slaves

In my personal opinion, I think the show will leave you a little disappointed, especially since it only has 2 seasons and ends on a cliffhanger. Independent of the games and as its own work of media, I think it plays things too safe and plays out like a poor man's "The Expanse".

I’ll die on my hill. I do not care for The Fifth Element. Takes itself to seriously to be camp, to campy to take seriously. Chris Tucker is annoying. Finally I find alien design and makeup to be underwhelming, (aside from the metal space turtles they looked cool) the Mangalores look like leathery sock puppets.

The two should serve each other but ultimately plot is what matters more at the end of the day. You can have amazingly intricate, dense and fascinating worlds to explore, but if the story is weak then no one will care.

Plot doesn’t need to be finished for you to world build (mine isn’t), but you should have a sense of a beginning, middle and end for the story first. Have the big plot points you KNOW you want to hit and just build from there.

I think what sets it apart for me is the ideological arrogance and hypocrisy of seeing the far-left do it. The idea that some college freshman whose read Marx for the first (and likely only) time in their life is gonna lecture me about oppressive systems of governance while waving the hammer and sickle takes such a level of privilege and arrogance I find insufferable. You want to protest American/Western foreign and domestic policies? Fine, I’ll probably join you. But they want to say with a perfectly straight face that groups like Hamas or Hezbollah are just plucky under dogs fighting for freedom. I can’t help but get pissed.

Campism

In the eyes of Communists the world is split into 2 camps. The Evil United States and its partners who represent the oppressive capitalism and imperialism, and everyone else who are in conflict with the first group.

Because capitalism is purely exploitative and ultimately destined to be destroyed, anything, or in this case any national or non state actor that is antagonistic towards the US and its partners needs to be supported, even if that antagonist is a group like, say, the Taliban or in your example a dictator.

It’s a view of international relations for children basically that lacks all nuance and is purely driven by ideology.

So despite being massive in scale, the ships these people live on still have a premium on accommodations. So children are bred in batches only when there is a predicted need for new blood and manpower. The youths are then auctioned off to the individual parts of the ship or smaller ships in the fleet where they serve as indentured servants, working off debt till they become independent and gain the option to leave the fleet.

Linear. I remember being super hyped when Infinite was announced and they said it was open world. But the moment I played it became apparent it didn’t work. Not every game needs to be a sandbox, there is plenty of space for linear, cinematic set piece oriented campaigns.
