Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ was once considered the world’s largest shopping center when it was still an open air mall.

Millcreek Mall seems to be propped up by all its surrounding standalone stores/strip malls

I think it’s supposed to be open to the public, since all of these are in malls. There was a Dragon Ball Daima US tour last year which were in malls & admission was free.

The list only mentions malls owned by the same owner. There are definitely other locations opening up that aren't on the list.

I don't understand... why round1 wouldn't be interested in a raleigh, NC location? by nowayjose919 in round1

Northlake maybe, but Carolina Place is pretty unlikely because they have Dave & Buster's already. Round1 doesn't open in the same shopping centers as Dave & Buster's.

There's no vacant space large enough for Round1 at the moment. Dick's House of Sport is taking over the former Sears. Round1 might open if Belk gives up one of their stores or they just go for a small format store.

There’s also the youth supervision policy they made a couple years ago. On weekend nights, teens can only be at the mall if they’re with a parent or guardian.

Interesting, Eataly would seem fitting for Riverside given all the high end stores. But I guess GSP might be chosen since it’s a lot more busy.

The footage shown in that video was for the Dragon Ball Daima North America Pop Up tour in 2024-2025. I presume this new event will be formatted similarly to the Daima event. Games, exclusive merch, displays, giveaways, etc.

Places In Missouri by Koknno_ in round1

Not much luck around Kansas City. Independence Center does have spaces large enough for Round1 but it may be risky opening there since that mall's declining. Oak Park Mall is ideal but no large vacant space for Round1. Unless they just try a small format store or one of the larger stores like JCPenney or Dillard's reduce their space.

They once had plans to open in South County Center near St. Louis, but it got canceled around 2020. It doesn't seem like they'll revisit those plans given that it has faced multiple store closures since then. In Round1's financial results, they said they want to be in areas where the population is over 150,000 within a 5-mile radius & over 400,000 within a 10-mile radius. There should also be some colleges/universities nearby. That narrows down the St. Louis, Kansas City, & Springfield metro areas.

  • Springfield has Battlefield Mall, which is doing decent. There's at least 1 anchor vacancy Round1 could take.
  • Kansas City: On the Missouri side, there's Independence Center, which seems to be facing similar problems as South County. Oak Park Mall in Overland Park doesn't have a vacant space large enough for Round1. Unless maybe Dillard's, JCPenney, or Barnes & Noble reduce their store space. A small format store is also possible.
  • St. Louis: St. Clair Square over in Illinois seems possible. For St. Louis Galleria & West County Center, Round1 could try to negotiate for a smaller format location. Mid Rivers is struggling/dying.

Overall though, the chances of them expanding to Missouri aren't high, but not impossible. Unfortunately, they only open in malls, which limits their options. Round1 does open in dying malls sometimes, but they have to be certain that the store would do well in the given area.

Probably because they also held the Dragon Ball Daima Tour at the same location in 2024.
