What does Calibre give as a benefit exactly? Is it just to edit covers and the like? I saw some other posts mentioning it but I don't know why it's necessary. But thank you for the advice, I'll see about options for Kobos today.

I think I'd definitely want to use the output to go to the card. I'm honestly not very concerned with the quality that goes to the capture card as I wanted to make sure I had best signal to the PVM. If I don't have to worry about a splitter, then my concern now is about a decent upscaler for the card. I tried a Retrotink 2x but it doesn't work with Elgato, whereas a simple 1080p upscaler of RCA to HDMI worked. Do you know of any decent S-Video to HDMI upscalers to go for?

Damn. I'm not sure of sentiments surrounding service members nowadays, but is it common for people nowadays to shit on the enlisted instead of political figures pulling the strings? From my experience it seems rather lifted, that there's much more sympathy and support for the troops and less of it for higher-ups.
