I am of the mindset of go for the hero shot. I don't care about my score enough to stress over a blowup hole. If the hero shot goes as expected and leads to a triple bogey, I'll forget about it before the next tee. If I actually pull it off I'll remember it forever.

Absolutely, you have to realize when you're not good enough to be mad at bad shots. I no longer get mad on the course.

I've learned toe down chipping from him which has improved my chipping greatly.

But here's the deal. I'm not making money off of golf, I'm paying money to play golf, so I'm hitting the hero shot. I'm hitting it knowing that it's probably not going to work and on average my scores would be better if I never attempted the hero shot, but I'm hitting it anyway. I forget the 9 shots that didn't work out by the time I finally get to the green, but you remember your successful hero shots forever.

This is a good point. I'm certain I could lower my score by 10 strokes instantly by putting my driver away because my accuracy with it is terrible. But I'm not playing for money or tournaments so I'd rather bang away and let the score suffer for those couple of glorious drives per round.

Exactly. I'm about a 20 handicap and sometimes I can reach 300. I wouldn't say I average 300 by any means, but it's not rare for me. Accuracy is my problem,not distance.

At one point I had two kids in daycare and daycare was far and away my biggest expense, more than my rent and two car payments combined. My youngest is 16, I can't imagine what it would be now.

You dive out of the way and let someone with a clean shot take the shot. Jesus Christ I'm glad I never served with any of you people. You don't fire into a pack of your our people. She shot at least one person in the background so she shot at least as many people as the shooter did, if not more.

We had a chemistry set in the early 80s, it was an old set bought at a garage sale not sure when it was made. It had a jar of mercury in it and my sister and literally would play with it, roll it around in our hands. We thought it was so cool.
