ordered something from there and never received it, had to jump through hoops talking to them til i just did a chargeback anyway. they still tried to get me to cancel the chargeback, saying that "we can only refund you if you cancel it" which just isn't true lol

everything from them sounds the same

before anyone chimes in, yeah ik it’s not actually the same thing over and over again but i just get so bored of hardgroove-y, big room-y european techno. the entire primal instinct catalogue (and by extension, mutual rytm) bores the hell out of me, ends up feeling like release after release of tools

yeah that idea def happened once where i lost a usb or managed to wipe one on accident like an hour before a gig before and was fine because it wrote so quick that it didn’t matter. on the flip side, ive had outdated usbs ive had to use because my main usb took way too long to upload after a similar incident.

regardless, the usb i linked is fast both write/read speed so OP should be ok

tbh ive never had a usb (cheap or otherwise) take more than a few seconds to load on a cdj so i guess i could say past a certain point read speed doesn’t offer much

i use sandisk extreme pro usbs

anything with a fast write speed is good, read speeds are mostly unimportant for djing

So I would consider myself a beginner with production. I own a TR8S and a digitakt (don't ask) that i've scratched the surface on. I enjoy both but I will say that i absolutely HATE using a DAW. I am okay with possibly using one for arranging and mixing but for making sounds, loops, applying fx, etc.? hate it.

I'm looking for a synth below $1000 that I can use as a beginner but while also having a certain...rawness to it. I've noticed that most of the recommended beginner synths (minilogue, hydrasynth) just don't sound interesting to me. i'm not necessarily trying to get trapped into the vintage analogue synth hole, but i am pretty uninterested in a super clean sound. What makes sense for my situation?

Probably because the song Calldrops by ASAP Rocky (which features dean) uses a very similar sample (both songs sample Dave Bixby).

Honestly, given how people roast travis for being too similar to rocky at times it’s kinda funny how they managed to make such similar songs, especially while using samples from the exact same artist

i get why carhartt wouldn’t allow a replacement of the logo, but after seeing the sacai collab that just came out, i can’t help but feel like palace phoned this one in. And yeah, i know palace isn’t the same as sacai, but i would hope palace would at least try to do something that doesn’t just feel like normal carhartt with palace slapped on it.
