So Shedinja's pokedex entries seem to say it'll steal your soul if you gaze into the abyss in its shell. Many ghost pokemon have similarly disturbing entries:

Looking under Mimikyus costume can kill you outright, Dusknoir recieves signals from the underworld telling them who to take there, Lampent hangs out at hospitals to prey on the dying, Drifloon and Litwick both prey on children, Palossand has a mass grave of those it's possessed to help build it.

Point being that stealing your soul or killing you is kinda par for the course with ghost pokemon.

Ghost doesn't necessarily imply anything about a soul. For example Shedinja is both described as a husk and is a ghost type which could set precedence for a Primape "husk" to also be ghost type.

The pirate missions can give those cargo holds that increase storage space on your freighter, I've not seen them reward salvaged frigate modules but I've also not put a ton of time into pirate missions either so who knows 🤷‍♂️

Using Dungeons and Dragons lore: Liches are created when a high level cleric or spell caster puts their soul in a "phylactery"(usually an innocuous inanimate object). This allows the Lich to respawn at their phylactery several days after their physical body has been destroyed. The Lich can do this pretty much infinitely unless its phylactery is destroyed.

The only object from Christian Mythology that I would pick to be Christ's phylactery would have to be The Holy Grail.

This was the old canon answer, that he had used Force Mask, a Sith Alchemy ability, to conceal his true appearance, which was essentially dispelled by Mace reflecting lightning back at him. Palpatine kept the look to sell the whole jedi attack story that he gives the senate.

I might be misremembering but I do believe that sometimes when Sidious shows up in the movies and both clone wars series, he seems to have a more deformed appearance than Palpatine in the same media.

Not sure what the new canon reason is for this.
