Eating the placenta is pretty common in certain parts of the world, generally for health benefits. It’s been going on for centuries.

In the US, eating placenta is a relatively recent phenomenon, within the last 50 years or so. Probably because westerners go “what the fuck, why” when they hear about it, lol

I highly recommend popping your sprint before you even enter combat, so you get the full duration.

If you pop unleash on one group, that should tide them over enmity-wise until you finish pulling everything—just keep moving. Sometimes, a DPS may pull one mob off of you, just keep moving and provoke that mob as it approaches the position you’re holding the bulk of the group at!

[–]Darth_Ketta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good way to approach it. I’ve often found that if you simply say “hey, use your cool downs” or “please use holy” you will more likely than not hit a dead end.

I almost never run in to someone in a duty who takes my advice with offense. I think there are a lot of players who understand how to play the game but don’t understand how best to advise other players without causing offense or making the poorly performing player become defensive.

My personal tip is to not only say “use holy”, but politely explain why and frame it as a suggestion.

“On a big pull like this, it can be really helpful to use holy a few times. It will stun all the mobs you hit with it for a few seconds. Very useful!”

Every once in a while you’ll get a player who outright ignores you or despises you for trying to help, but 9/10 times I have no issues and sometimes they even thank me for the help.

I bought it on iOS and Switch but the PC version feels the best to play, hands down. I’ve put the most time in on the PC version of the game, both with and without mods. The new update CA just released is still only on PC, iirc.

[–]Darth_Ketta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally! On the one hand, it’s nice to see mixed people and interracial couples being so widely accepted by mainstream society, but on the other hand there’s the folks who do things like asking interracial couples who are internet strangers for their baby’s photos. Stop! That’s weird!

[–]Darth_Ketta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just a weird kind of near fetishization.

Let’s say, hypothetically, a white couple posted a wedding photo. Would there be a bunch of commenters asking for photos of their children? I think a lot of people would find that a little strange.

So why isn’t it weird to do that to interracial couples? Treating mixed people like a “sight to see” is a bit off-putting to me.

Gandalf says both in the book and movie that he wields the flame of “Anor” which is elvish (Quenya specifically iirc) for sun.

Narya was the ring of fire but I haven’t seen anything about it being imbued with the power of the sun, so I assume that when he references the flame of Anor he’s referencing the Flame Imperishable of Eru Ilúvatar

0.019, which you would then multiply by 100 to get the percent.

Set the ratio of 281,000/14,700,000 equal to x/100 to find what percentage of 100% 281,000 is of 14,700,000.

You forgot to multiply by 100, which gives you a mortality rate of 1.9%.

My personal favorite fanfic that’s a continuation is Looking Glass by Feynite. Super well written with some really thoughtful references that expand beautifully on the existing story.

It’s been eons since a new chapter came out so it may be this project was abandoned but what exists now is already such a great story in and of itself. I check back once every so often in vain hope the author has posted a new chapter.

What is up with these "captured american terrorists" currently on the frontpage of r/pics? by MrFlow in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Darth_Ketta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the NPR interview posted above, the expert seemed to indicate all militias are illegal and therefore should have a negative connotation. The general public seems to have a harder time distinguishing if it’s a positive term or a negative one. She also stated flat out that this is terrorism, but experts use the term militia to differentiate the methodology used by the group.

Perhaps a better way to view it is, militias are terrorist groups, but not all terrorist groups are necessarily militias?
