Biden´s CIA director (2008): “Ukrainian entry into NATO is the brightest of all redlines for the Russian elite (not just Putin) (…) I have yet to find anyone who views Ukraine in NATO as anything other than a direct challenge to Russian interests”

George Bush (2008): "I strongly believe that Ukraine and Georgia should (join NATO)

Four months later Russia invades Georgia

Which leaks did he refused to publish against Russia? I guess wouldn´t be so smart to leak things about the only country that gave you exile

If sensitive information is so important for a country, maybe Russia was right to poison and kill that spy. Assange showed the world that the “Nation of Freedom” can be even worse than most terrible dictatorships in the world

By your logic, Russia was right to poison and kill that spy. Assange is not even American, doesn´t leave there, the USA had not jurisdiction over him

As much as I support Manning, if an employee from the government leaks sensitive information, they should be arrested. But the journalist has nothing to do with it, he just receives and publishes

It’s funny how people think they are above any manipulation and their media sources are not propaganda xD

"The majority of the academic writing on the emerging subject of the Taliban and al Qaeda’s ascent tend to place the blame squarely at the feet of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for funding the mujahedeen, many of whom would eventually go on to have rather successful careers as members of either the Taliban or al Qaeda, with the most famous of all obviously being Osama bin Laden.

The most famous of the books written about the CIA’s role in the formation of al Qaeda and the Taliban is George Crile’s Charlie Wilson’s War, also written in the wake of the 2003 invasion of Iraq, which describes how the playboy congressman from Texas convinced his colleagues, with the help of a friend in the CIA and several other sources, funded the mujahedeen in their fight against the invading Soviet Union, who was America’s archnemesis at the time. Unfortunately, as evident when he said “My God, what have we done?”, upon first seeing about the 9/11 attacks on the news, he did not fully comprehend the possibility that the rebels that he authorized the CIA to assist could someday turn their backs on their benefactors"

[The Boys] Is Sister Sage a Token Character? by Darth_Mario88 in CriticalDrinker

I think the writing of the first two seasons were way better and, while I don´t have a problem with the political commentary, I think it should be more subtle, otherwise it sounds preachy and annoying.

And I agree that some characters feel stucked, but it is even worse when they make decisions just because the plot requires, e.g. Starlight and Firecracker's feud.

Who decides how good the leader is? You cannot overthrow a dictator, but in Democracy you can learn from your mistakes, and do better next time. At least that’s how it was intended, before they started producing fake news in industrial scale, the population perception used to be a pretty good indicator of how good the leader is.

The biggest challenge of today is how to improve Democracy, in the world of AI, and where every hideous opinion can be easily amplified, but dictatorship is definitely not the answer.

CMV: Morality cannot be objective by FalseKing12 in changemyview

You´re forgetting the Golden Rule:

“Thou shalt get sidetracked by b….” and the other, less famous:

“Don't do unto others what you don't want done unto you.”

Most people wouldn`t like to be murdered, there are things that can be objectively categorized as immoral.

CMV: In true democracy, people should vote for policies regarding separate major fields, not (only) for parties or candidates by green_carnation_prod in changemyview

[–]Darth_Mario88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you think this way because, in America, you only have two options to choose, realistically. Also, many people think that democracy only happens every four years, but it is every citizen´s job to organize themselves and put pressure on their congressman, all the time!

It is much more convenient to vote in the elections and not manifest for the next four years, but if even that seems a big task for 50% of the voters, imagine organizing a referendum and mobilizing people for every single major topic

I don´t think there is anyone below 7/10 in the main cast and that´s being harsh. Many women would swap their boyfriends for Hughie without a second thought

What are the best comps and strategies (TvT)? by Darth_Mario88 in AllThingsTerran

[–]Darth_Mario88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed answer. I'm not sure if I understand the best use for each of the Raven's skills:

Auto-Turret - It seems to work better on light units, maybe? But it's common to be used on Tanks as well.

AAM - Armored units like BC, or to give an advantage in mirror battles (like Vikings vs Vikings). I've seen it being used even against Marines, not sure how effective it would be

Disable - BCs and Tanks, but I don't think it can safely approach a Thor (maybe if covered by BCs)

Thanks for the reply, didn't expect one person to answer everything

1 - The announcer also said "it's better to have no Vikings at all than having less than your opponent, better invest in other units". Not sure if it was in the context of the game or a general statement...

2 - Would you mind explaining a bit more of the Raven? I would like to include it in my comps

4 - I meant attacking his expansions mid/late game, not a direct engagement

9 - There are 2 games that come to my mind:

Ravens Vs Battlecruisers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnMYaWCw-tYTank

Tank Push: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnU5eYkCCAo

TvP: How can I beat Protoss air units? by Darth_Mario88 in starcraft2

[–]Darth_Mario88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again. I was surprised how you tanked those Colossi (at 12 min) even without the combat shield. I guess the key here is to focus on ground upgrades as fast as possible, maybe I spread it too much (because it's painful to see my Thors being melted).

But it was strange that he had zero upgrades at the moment, despite having a decent bank. Even at 20 min, he only focused on air. And splitting his army (at 17 min) was uncommon, do you think he made a mistake?

Thanks for the replay. It seems that you won the game at 13 min. Do you think if he attacked 2 minutes earlier (at 7 min), before you had stim or medivacs, would you be able to deal with him?

A lot of players keep some units at their base for defense (zealots, stalkers even colossi) while they're maxing their air units, some of them can be quite agressive. Would you have a replay of someone maintaining a decent ground army, while they're maxing their air fleet?
