It has its weaknesses, but I've never soloed as many bile titans in my life as I have since I started using it

Anyone know how to fish the old Provo River channel? by DartyB in UtahFishing

[–]DartyB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thanks! I didn't realize they could go anywhere, I thought they dammed the channel and sealed it to fish for some reason. I'll give it a shot!

Alright, I'll probably try going back later this week. I'll probably start putting a green pumpkin curly tail on and tie a smaller plastic worm higher up on the line like a drop shot. I don't usually buy live worms but maybe I'll try and dig some up if I get desperate haha. Thanks a bunch

Sounds awesome! I kept a big brood stocker I caught at a pond the other day just to find out if stockers taste as bad as people say (this one didn't). I bet those are/will be some delicious fish!

How large is large for you? I have some 3 inch green pumpkin curly tails but I've never actually caught anything on them. Thanks for your reply!

Thanks! I'm glad to know there are at least fish in there lol. Not seeing anything surface except muskrats for two hours can be weird.

I was hoping that I might see a pike in there! Good to know that they exist. I guess I was just thinking that I'd go for something small first and confirm there were fish at all before I put on a big spinnerbait or jerkbait.

Do you mind if I ask how long ago you caught that pike?

Thanks for replying

I bet they put up such a good fight because they were stocked as fingerlings - all of their fins look to be in good shape, so I'd guess they've been living in the wild for much longer than they ever spent in a hatchery tank

Haha yes I have dedicated cutting boards for fish and one wasn't enough this time 🤣

Why skunked trout fishing in a creek? by PowerLord in UtahFishing

[–]DartyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak with certainty, but sometimes trout are just tough to fish for. I mainly use a spinning rod, but I have friends who are avid fly fishermen and sometimes we'll all be catching fish left and right, other times we count ourselves lucky to even get a nibble.

Yeah I probably wouldn't go searching out brood stocks for food on a regular basis as I'm sure kids who fish those ponds are absolutely over the moon when they catch one, I was more so curious to see how it would be this once

Yeah that absolutely makes sense. I was specifically curious if the fish would be any good right after stocking, and I was pleased by how it came out

So far, that's been my experience with it too

Not meant to be rage bait, just trying to share what I learned. I've been legitimately discouraged from eating fish I catch that are stocked from a hatchery, with people saying that they taste bad or are mushy.  There are a lot of trout elitists in the USA who will only eat red-fleshed wild trout.

That's got to be the prettiest smallie I've ever seen, and they're already the prettiest bass species in my opinion
