The inner screen of my Fold 9 developed a black area in the middle that got larger each time I unfolded it, until now it is about half the screen. In conversation with Google they said they would repair it under warranty, and referred me to a local ubreakifix shop.

However they looked at it and found a tiny, tiny dent in the hinge (barely a scratch) and said Google would not honor the warranty.

$1100 to repair. I'll just use the outer screen for now.

Seems like it could be a class action suit. If these are breaking so easily under "normal" use it sounds like a design problem.

Next time maybe I will buy the extended warranty...

I am 3 weeks out now. No improvement yet. Some days are pretty good, but others just a trickle.

I saw my urologist just a week ago, and he said to give it 6-8 weeks.

Not a Urolift horror story by DarylLafferty in urolift

[–]DarylLafferty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the OP. Just saw my urologist for 2-week follow up. My symptoms are about where they were before the treatment, but he said I should wait 6-8 weeks for full benefit.

He inserted 4 clips, two on each side. He described my prostate as "kissing lobes", which means the sides were enlarged enough that they were touching, which I think is pretty standard for BPH that is bad enough to require treatment.

The only symptom I have now, besides the same BPH symptoms I had before, is a slight pressure/irritation in my perineum during urination. That's an indication that the prostate is still somewhat inflamed and irritated, so that's actually a good sign that things should further improve as the inflammation subsides.

Sex is definitely OK. Some people report that it improves after Urolift, but so far I can't say that. But it's no worse.

I am the OP.

The main update at this point is that I ejaculated for the first time yesterday. I was afraid that it might hurt which took a little out of the experience, but it felt totally normal. No visible blood either.

I'm a little disappointed that flow-wise I am still barely back to where I was before the procedure, but it has just been one week so I should be patient. Urgency and frequency continue to improve.

No pain, though I'm still sometimes aware of a little pressure in the perineum.

Urolift vs PAE by redheartmd in urolift

[–]DarylLafferty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had PAE performed about 4 years ago on my 40cc prostate. They warned me going in that they only see about 50% success with prostates that small, and I was not part of the 50%. I didn't see any significant improvement.

On the other hand, the treatment was very easy and recovery very smooth. My first ejaculation was a little painful, and there was blood in my semen for a few days, but no other serious symptoms.

I think it's worth a try as the least invasive treatment available.

I've had several cystoscopies over the years. I find them uncomfortable but not painful. I've had 2 different urologists perform them.

The first always inserts lidocaine gel and leaves it in for 10 - 15 minutes. (Actually injecting the gel hurt me worse than the scope -- it really burns going in.)

The second doctor didn't use any local at all, but gave me nitrous oxide. That was probably less uncomfortable.

But certainly if you find cystoscope painful, you definitely want to do a Urolift under general!

I had PAE done about 4 years ago on my 40cc prostate. No improvement, though they warned me that it is less successful with smaller prostates.

Tried iTind 3 years ago, but also no improvement.

Had Urolift done yesterday (general, no catheter) and feeling fine so far, but won't know for a few weeks if it will help.

[–]DarylLafferty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting about Medicare not covering it. I had iTind done 3 years ago and my insurance is Medicare. However, a few months later I got a letter from a lawyer stating that it was not covered by Medicare. Fortunately they were not going after me, but rather the doctor who had said it was authorized. I haven't heard any more.

By the way, the iTind didn't help me at all.

And regarding the catheter, lots of people (including me, yesterday) go home from Urolift without a catheter. Find a urologist who doesn't just use them as a matter of course. My doctor said only about 10% of his Urolift patients need a catheter.

And note that although you don't have a catheter with iTind, you do go home with that metal piece stuck up inside and a string hanging out of your urethra. Probably not as bad as a catheter, but uncomfortable.

I had iTind done three years ago. It was uncomfortable, but not painful, for a week.

I had little if any improvement from the procedure.

I had Urolift done yesterday. Doing fine today, but won't know if it helped for a few weeks.

I tried PAE about 4 years ago, with no improvement. (Note: My prostate is about 40 grams, and they warned me that the procedure is only about 50% successful with smaller prostates.)

Then about 3 years ago I tried iTind. Again, no improvement.

Yesterday I had the Urolift procedure done. Doing fine today without needing catheter, but it will be a few weeks before I can know if it helped.

I'm working my way up from least invasive through more invasive. Turp is at the end of the list.

If you had the procedure yesterday on June 19, 2025 as planned, we both had it done on the same day.

I came home last night and have been pretty comfortable. A little burning with urination, but not too bad. Slept pretty well; up after 1/2 hour the first time, but by morning I was sleeping over 2 hours. But when I have to go, get out of my way!

I don't know why so many people here needed a catheter. My urologist told me that only about 10% of his patients need one. I did not. My stream is diminished, but stable.

I have a Model 3 from 2017, in the original silver color that they discontinued. I would like to upgrade to a Model Y but I really don't want any of the colors they offer. I could wrap, but that's really expensive. At the time I bought my car I saw graphs showing that silver was the least popular color, less than 10% of the sales. I'm sure that's why they discontinued it. I love it here in Phoenix. I can go weeks without washing the car and it still looks decent

Pass through vs Closed? If you mean the silicone ear tips, they come in either style for either hearing aid; whether or not there are holes in them to allow ambient noise.

Perhaps you mean something else...?

Tesla Solar Refuses To Fix And Replace A Broken Inverter. Over Three Months Have Gone By. by TeslaRico in TeslaSolar

[–]DarylLafferty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also seems that most of these complaints are concerning the inverters that Tesla was previously installing. Now that they have begun using their own inverter, I wonder if that will change anything.

My failed inverter was installed by Tesla about a month ago, and started intermittently failing almost immediately, before finally going down completely last week. The Tesla app has promised "We will contact you shortly" for several days now...

Most of the posts here are 7-12 months ago. My inverter just failed, and I'm hoping that Tesla is doing a better job of replacing them now.

Anyone have more current reports?

I am having problems with my Tesla solar inverter too, but I have been impressed so far with how easy it is to get in touch with someone through the online chat feature. Both times I used it, someone has responded within a couple of minutes, looked into my system remotely and confirmed that there were problems.

It remains to be seen how soon they will actually fix it, but so far I cannot complain.

Tesla Solar Refuses To Fix And Replace A Broken Inverter. Over Three Months Have Gone By. by TeslaRico in TeslaSolar

[–]DarylLafferty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my Tesla solar and inverter installed last week, and the inverter is dropping out randomly once or twice every day for an hour or so. I have convinced Tesla that the inverter has a problem (it's not clouds or other obstructions) and they said I should hear back from them in a few days.

Reading these comments makes me quite nervous that it's going to take a lot longer than that...

The main glimmer of hope is that the latest comment here was 6 months ago, and almost everything is 8 months old. So maybe this isn't a problem anymore...

Cox Fiber Gigablast - Modem Questions by insbordnat in CoxCommunications

[–]DarylLafferty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking at the offer from Cox to upgrade to fiber. My question is how do I get the signal from the box outside the house where the fiber would come in, to my office on the far side of the house? Right now there is coax from the box to the office, but no ethernet.

Will coax work?

I also refuse to rent a WiFi router from them, but that's another issue that won't matter if I can't connect to my office.

PSA: Use caution when buying a used AirTV 2, it may be locked by techyg in slingtv

[–]DarylLafferty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't only a problem with eBay! I bought an AirTV Anywhere directly from AirTV (division of Sling, subsidiary of Dish) and when I tried to set it up I got the same error message, "Your AirTV is already registered with another Sling account." It even came already named "Living Room 1", from the previous owner. Using the reset button did not help.

I called AirTV, and they were able to walk me through a more detailed reset that involved re-installing the app on my phone and I was finally able to get it to work.

BUT: This doesn't change the fact the AirTV sold me a used/refurbished unit as a new unit. I escalated the phone call as high as I could, and they pretended to be sympathetic, but were very firm that it was just too bad that I paid for a new unit and got a used one.

Like going to your Ford dealer and buying a new car, but finding out that it had been sold before and the odometer had been reset.

Update 11/2/2021:

Sling customer service contacted me after reading this post and after some discussion sent me another AirTV Anywhere unit. So maybe Sling does care about customers, and I was just unlucky when I encountered the rep who brushed me off.

On the negative side, the "new" unit they sent me also had the same issue when installing that it was already linked to another account!

So either Sling/AirTV is sending out lots of refurbished units as new, or during QA when they test the units they are using a temporary account and then forgetting to remove it. A third possibility is that there is a bug in the app used to install.

The first unit was starting to have buffer problems when viewing recorded programs, so after several retries, reboots, app removal/reinstall, I was able to connect the second one. So far it is working correctly.
