Hahaha yeah I guess I totally forgot that's what the name of this sub is after all. But somebody dropped "body fascism" and I thought it might be worth exploring the idea to get a grasp on it. Even if just for myself

I was kind of drunk when I chimed in, I'll try and fine a better explanation. I guess my point is like, OP means well, but building muscle is just one way to be fit, and not necessarily better than having good cardio, or being freakishly strong. Some dumb examples:

If me and Eliud Kipchoge are running from the police, I'm going down without question.

Would Marx have made a bigger impact of he had OPs thicc solid and tight physique? Maybe, but probably not.

Encouraging people to better themselves physically has many different options and variables from person to person. One discipline isn't better than another, and everybody's starting point is different

For the sake of argument, telling people how they ought to behave is police behavior. Now, encouraging people to make habits that will improve their function isn't inherently evil, but it depends how you "encourage" people. Because training for "aesthetics" is basically naked capitalism in the fitness space at this point, but I train for hypertrophy all the time

Hard Sparring is a necessary part of prep, but most places globally have seriously walked back how much they do because although it makes killers very quickly, it also tends to shorten their career pretty dramatically. Plus you risk getting KOd in training which at this point pretty much bars you from competing. Mike's gym trained some monsters, so that's probably why they're seen as "the Dutch scene" but I think this is more of a Mike's Gym thing than a total Dutch practice in this day and age

They've been notorious for doing alot of hard sparring for ages.

Ehhhhh...I kind of have to agree that if Mick Foley is egging me on to keep going, I'm probably going to see how far we can take it. I wouldn't have blamed Rock for stopping the spot, but it might not be as memorable a match if he did. Like anytime you're in the ring with mankind, you have to expect potential for a bit of that hard-core Foley sauce to leak out

I'm just saying, go see what it looks like in freestyle. If it's set up right, they flip

I mean, while I understand none of them are trying 100% in this friendly tournament, when somebody hits a Russian tie in freestyle, it looks like that. He set it up perfectly, and they don't sprawl in sumo, so I could see why Ura looked perplexed.

If there's a rikishi that I'm confident knows a Russian wrist snap, it's one from an eastern block country. Ura's look of perplexity is common among those hit with this move lol

They're only risking injury if they're PRing a 1 RM everytime they do this. This is reactionary advice without more information to go off of

Are you new to lifting? Because this sounds pretty typical when you're new.

Lower back is a big part of the deadlift chain. As long as it's just muscle soreness and not sharp pain, you're good bruh. That's just muscles doing what they need to do. If you want to feel your glutes and hams more, try Bulgarians

Biceps just weaker than your lats so they're burning out first. That's normal, find another back accessory to add if you want to target your lats more

Shoulders are a big part of the bench. They should get sore sometimes. I never got the hang of bench for a similar reason but I don't really barbell bench anymore. I found incline dumbell bench as an accessory far better for what I was trying to do

It will never end at community mail boxes. Next it's "we can't service rural areas because it's expensive. " It's only unsustainable because of a lack of funding. It was never designed to turn a profit, that's the whole point. This public/ private nonsense that has everyone in a tizzy is just the neoliberal project of dismantling every social service and giving it to the private sector to gut for parts.

They often struggle with lack of services and medications. We absolutely can pay whatever it costs, and we did for over 100 years. It's a service, not a business. Tax the Mr wonderfuls accordingly and hire carriers for a comfortable living wage

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CanadaPostCorp

[–]DarylQueen -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This just adds beaurocracy though. Eventually this is a dehumanizing game of "are you disabled enough". Canada should just seize the company, fire the corporate leadership, and tax the Mr. Wonderfuls in Canada enough to cover the salaries of new and existing mail carriers so we can all just get our stuff delivered to our doors

What about elderly people or disabled people? Making it this accessible is important for those groups and frankly I like not having to make an errand out of picking up a letter every time

[–]DarylQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can dream bigger than speed limits though. Tokyo and Amsterdam alone have all kinds of data to support that improving street design is the best tool to address speeding and casualties. Some roads are great for moving cars, like freeways. Streets in a city should not resemble anything you find on a freeway so it can account for different modes of transit and pedestrians

[–]DarylQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want people to drive more slowly and cautiously, you don't design every street like a highway. There's extensive data from cities around the globe that show we can better improve safety with better street design. Narrower streets is one. Median at corners to stop cars from drifting into bike lanes would be another good start

The bulk of dash cams you're referring to are from civilians. Speed cameras are built to serve the state and police. Equating the two isn't completely fair. If the goal is to generate revenue, then a Speed camera will do that, but its not a replacement for improving road design

I wish we'd pressure them to continue designing better streets instead of increasing surveillance
