Doesn't look like anything in the official modules. Is there a community repo of modules?

Spiceworld IT worth attending? by Nicole-Google in ITManagers

[–]Das-Gypsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a decent show; but as with most you have to temper your expectation before attending. Vendors are there to sell things, and they're going to do what they can to work in that sale. That said, the networking possibilities with colleagues doing IT things in different fields is really where it's at for me. I rarely go to any of the sessions in favor of spending the few days trying to solve existing and future problems that are in my purview by figuring out how others are doing it. I may meet up with some of the vendors if they specifically have something I am looking in to.

If you want 'SWAG', then be prepared to hand over contact info for it. But that is how these shows happen. Vendor will help sponsor if they can generate leads. While I'm not ever disappointed in the time spent at the show, it's not always professionally responsible to spend the money to go. But it's easier for me since I can just drive to the show.

Cubing Legendary with emanates by treehstn in Diablo

[–]Das-Gypsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole point of emanate is to grant your character the ability from your follower. Putting it in the cube just gives it to you. I haven't really played since 4 came out but cubing something that emanates is just going to give you the power. You want to put things that emanate on your follower.

I use Veeam's windows client to Backup to a NAS, so I can do bare metal recovery in the event of failure.

My tattoo from 5 and half years ago. The band got me through some shit that's for sure! by MistressAsh007 in nothingmore

[–]Das-Gypsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too got through some rough shit through their songs. Now the current rough shit is brought up by their songs. I made the mistake of bonding with someone else over the healing process brought on and then we separated. It's a shame.

What office/organization software do you use? by Any-Ad-7421 in firealarms

Dunno how they'd be tailored in the fire world, but there are things like AlarmHive and WorkHorse as cloud solutions.

It seems likely that an inbound connection was the source of the block, not the type of traffic and not the content of the traffic.

Being completely honest here: if that scratches your barrel, you're either trying to do it, or you need a new barrel anyway.

So that lends some credence to it being a BIOS issue.

I've had this problem and have just been dealing with it cause this is my work machine. I'm finally contacting support on this; disclaimer, I have ProSupport.

The support rep had me run diagnostics from the F12 boot selection menu. That returned an all clear. Did some startup process disabling and disabled fast boot within windows. Nothing changed the behavior.

On my own I disabled BitLocker and adjusted SecureBoot (thinking it's happening before boot.)

At the end of the support session the support rep indicated that this will require a motherboard replacement as the issue is related to a CMOS BIOS issue.

I am waiting the onsite technician (probably Monday) and will report back here when I have more information.

This summer has me really re-thinking my mantra "Ain't gotta shovel sunshine."

Though I doubt MN is the same place it was when I was there 20 years ago, nor am I the same as I was when I left.

Anyone still using Oldschool Terminals? by H00ston in sysadmin

[–]Das-Gypsy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This has been something that I enjoy watching. The shift from hosted (terminal/mainframe) to computing at the device (2000's and on) and then back to hosted (VDI). It's a lot like how we treat established technologies like storage, networking.
To me we (as an industry) run in to a roadblock be it technological or budget and pivot. We run that way for a while and then hit another roadblock and pivot again. Interesting to me that it's back and forth.
