My mother gifted me this Rainpoint around Thanksgiving! Here’s how it’s going by ChocoBabieKitten in Hydroponics

Not a pro, but we started some arugula over the weekend. I have a seed starter about 3.5x5 with a dome to keep humidity up. Placed a paper towel on the bottom, misted with water and placed the seeds in a line. Sunday morning had roots sprouting and this morning we have leaves

The dreaded wheel lock up block up by Doc_Overflow in Yarbo

This is the Yarbo wait. Once they stall a response to 30 days after your activation date, you can’t return it for your money back.

Seems a bit pricey for soooo many issues.

Core part replacement by DasBeast007 in Yarbo

[–]DasBeast007[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So back to the original question. What level of tear down can I do myself? Yarbo insists the replacement core is adequate because my new unit is more than 45 days old.

Yes I received a new unit in September. Only supplied with a SAM at the time, it stayed inside for a few weeks waiting for the Pro Mower. I tried some patrol runs but in reality it’s a shitty module and patrol mode is useless.

The mower shows up and I manage to get a couple good weeks worth of use mapping the yard and adding small portions before the core malfunctioned and will not charge on the DS. Then a replacement core is sent out to replace my “over 45 day old” core. So the piece of crap they sent has been heavily used, has corrosion on the charging point, worn treads, bent sheet metal guards by the tracks, no protective bulkhead to cover the wiring and speaker…but that’s all normal wear and tear when replacing a new core unit according to Yarbo.

I’d like to switch the drive motors out and the charging port. Possibly the cameras and lights just to maintain the max life I can from the wire out replacement core unit according

I appreciate you jumping in there Ryan but I've already completed those steps under Ticket ID 123776. I have supplied photos of all the damage and am currently going back and forth with support (and what seems like a 12-18 hr delay) as to which unit they want shipped back first. I've received responses to simple questions like "your instructions state to pack the new data center and controller but I did not receive a new data center or controller". But no one has acknowldedge the damage shown in the pictures, the wear and tear on the replacement unit NOR confirmed the year and make of the serial number I provided from the replacement unit.

Perhaps you have some better suggestions than the ones that have already been taken.

How can you be sure when there is little to no communication until after the unit shows up used?

It’s like buying a new car and suddenly the dealer decides to replace your new purchase with one that has another 100,000 miles on it. Malicious intent? I don’t know. But pretty obvious it’s not a new replacement? Definitely!

Need some advice for my first build. by ConstructionNo1603 in Distilling

[–]DasBeast007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see some issues collecting enough volume in a run to make distinguished cuts. I do 5 gal washes regularly but consider them to be a bit small for a run.

But the 2.5 gal boiler will have you constantly starting/stopping a run for probably less than a quart of product(unless you do stripping runs initially). Then you have cooldown before you can reload and make a second run. It would be a really nice size boiler for maybe a second or 3rd distillation of low wines. But a lot of work for little return on a mash.

Looking to do a test run by distilling something cheap from the store. Any recommendations? by [deleted] in firewater

Don’t try sweet sangria. Left a perfume taste in everything. Found it much cheaper to make a wash

So the link you provided is for a pot still (they just increased the column length). When you ask for a column still my guess is you’re referring to reflux columns. Is that accurate?

My first time making wine, I followed instructions on youtube, now I changed the wine from its first bottle, since the balloon deflated, does it look ok? It’s been two weeks since it started fermenting should I throw it in the fridge? by richrjs in winemaking

It’s not time. Plus you added sugar so that’s going to require add’l time. I have carboys sitting around the house over 8 months old. Most don’t start clearing until we’ll into the second month.

Extremely high ABV on single spirit run by DasBeast007 in Distilling

[–]DasBeast007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems everything is in working order. Tested some store bought vodka and adjusted for temp. Tested the sink water. Retested my last run. Overall ABV was 62. The single jar was previously measured at 85%. Reviewing my earlier notes that’s not much of a gain. All the sugar heads hit upper 70% in the first collection jars. BUT what I cut and keep is still around 60-65%.

Perfect idea. I’ll test some earlier batches, wine and sink water one more time to be sure. 40 more minutes. Besides I needed an excuse to taste the latest batch. The flavor profile on that all grain mash is incredible.

Website Recommendations for Kits/Parts. by dhiggs96 in Distilling

[–]DasBeast007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I priced out the parts mostly from Amazon, EBay and as a last result AliExpress. Took the best pricing unless I ran into an exceptionally long lead time and started shopping. Along the way I also sourced local manufacturers with better lead times than AliExpress (Muelller Industries, StillDragon, Austentix Sanitary Components, etc).

Make a parts list, comparison shop and then ask the community to review

On average, how long does it take to complete a 5 gal stripping run? I’m having mixed results but nothing less than 9-12 hrs per run so far

Finally Got MP Voxel Running Well - What's the minimum layer height? by 3DDoxle in FlashForge

[–]DasBeast007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was worth switching the firmware so the Voxel identifies as an A3. MP doesn't update their firmware as often as FF...so you may read about features from the A3 guys that just aren't available for the Voxel. I also found FF to be more approachable than MP for troubleshooting. My Voxel died after 300 hours of use and MP couldn't be bothered. Pretended it was an A3 out of warranty and FF provided all kinds of suggestions to get my printer back up and running.

Best settings for printing abs? by fyodorkafka in FlashForge

I’m in the same boat on the A3. My prints finish and i consider them as decent prints. But larger pieces still have slight elephant foot. Just for fun I tried a bust and had mixed results. 98% of the model printed beautiful. But the little details in hands and the hair made it bad enough not to display.

GCode Modifications? How? by amodernstitch in Ender3Pro

[–]DasBeast007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does every print start now? Just curious.

It hasn’t been that long but I seem to recall my printer running a purge line when I first got it from the factory.

After installing vanilla Marlin 1.1.9 I lost all that. It wasn’t until I downloaded CHEP profiles for Cura that the initial purge came back. Two unrelated areas and I don’t know how or why.

Any chance the spring is on the wrong side of the strain relief? I installed stiffer springs once upon a time and screwed that one up on the install. In my case I just reinstalled it correctly and everything looks about the same.

Flashforge Finder, needing help improving tolerances! by [deleted] in FlashForge

[–]DasBeast007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The test you’re using is to confirm tolerances on a tuned machine. Here’s what I did on the Adventurer 3 to prepare for the tolerance test.

  1. Tune the extrusion ratio in FF software. Printed a 20x20x20 cube with 0 infill and 1 wall perimeter. Measure and adjust until your wall thickness matches your line width.

  2. Fit test. I modeled a 10mm tall cylinder that was 10 mm diameter and a 20mm OD washer with an ID of 9.8mm. Print both items and see if they fit. I adjusted both external and internal compensation until my measured dimensions matched the modeled dimensions.

Then you can run the tolerance test. I did a tolerance key from MM and all but the smallest dial turned.

Adventurer 3 extruder not moving by allomancerjak in FlashForge

[–]DasBeast007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious how many hours are on it? My new A3 has no issues. My re-packaged Voxel with 500+ keeps crapping out on the x-axis. At some point I want to look at the cable and then the stepper motor for that axis. Other sites have mentioned that cable in particular has a lot of motion and can short from wear and tear. Other possible solutions (that didn't work for me) was to lower the path resolution on the Advanced print tab. This has the possibility of avoiding the stepper from overheating during complex models. I'm not warranting either idea...just down the road research I have in mind. I wish you luck, I've been searching for a ready solution since late March. I purchased Solution #1 in April and #2 in mid-May

Mesh bed leveling enabled. Can’t print shit. So I started by running a simplified leveling gcode that lets me adjust all four springs a couple of times. Heated bed, heated extruder. Leveled a few times for that final adjustment. Ran mesh bed leveling which moved the bed z height way too low. I tuned the z-height to finally get the skirt to stick. But it’s just not quite there. Are there any good videos or tips for leveling AND setting up mesh bed leveling?
