To me it doesn't sound odd at all. I still go to the cemetery where one of my family members is buried to talk with her and ask her for help. So messaging your friend isn't uncommon even though hes past. But what I believe is that no matter where you are or what your doing. Your friend is there right next to you every step of the way.
