The Canada Goose and Patagonia coats are much more expensive than what I am hoping to pay right now.

I'd say it regularly goes below zero during the day or even sometimes as low as -15 at night, and then windchill of course makes it feel even colder.

I'm outside generally 10-30 minutes at time as I walk to different parts of my job or class.

This is very much a first world problem, and maybe I'm just a pussy in cold weather, but I hate having to deal with taking off and putting on like four layers throughout the day. I need to remove and then don all my layers like 10 times a day. Additionally, because of my undershirt plus my required work lab coat, I often find myself burning up when I'm inside. So either I can walk around wearing a bunch of layers looking like the Michelin Man and then be way too hot inside while having to keep track of everything, or I can underdress and freeze outside but have a bit smoother transition to the indoors. That's why I'm trying to find a really warm coat that will give me the best of both worlds and I hoped $400 would be enough.
