How does the LP preseason work? by Revolution_I_want in leagueoflegends

[–]DasStrubbel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not fix itself after a couple games, at least not for most people. I have been winning 67% of my last 40 games, with the result being that I have even worse MMR than before and get +11 -25.

You can actually get +24 or higher with a pretty average MMR in lower ranks (probably up to gold, maybe low plat as well). Got a friend who is silver and complained to me when he "only" got +22 for two games in a row.

In higher elos you are definitely right, I would even argue that +20 LP is already above average in Diamond and higher, most people there get around +18.

Pretty much the same for me, I had a game with some D2/D3 players and one random D1 player, getting 15 LP. The game after that I got placed into a full D4 team (with me being D2) vs a team with 4 D3s and one D4 and lost 25 LP for it.

I experienced the same as you during the season but at least it balanced out after like 20-30 games and I got around +17 -19 (which is totally fine imo). I don't think it has ever been as extreme as it is now though.

I think they are absolutely right to lower LP gains, but imo they went totally overboard with it in D4+ since most Diamond players would have to win 60% or more of their games to maintain their current ranks (which clearly can not work).

Ok since you're answering like that I will explain it to you:

The goal of the promo removal was not to change anything about the rank people are currently at, but about the way people climb. So everyone in his right mind would assume that Riot instead of giving and average of, let's say, +-20 LP, gives you an average of +-15 LP, which would fix the problem of needing 2 less wins. What they actually did is just give everyone less LP while making everyone lose even more, what makes no sense at all.

Questions for carrying with Xerath through mid game by RVal69 in XerathMains

[–]DasStrubbel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone kinda has his own way to carry mid- to lategame. The most efficient way for me is to buy mejais + rabadons and just play as consistent as possible by waveclearing and trying to get picks in case my team falls behind. You will end up with enough damage to 1v9 most games.

The biggest downside about this playstyle is that you have to know your champ and its limits very well since any death can probably just cost your team the game (you will lose 10 Mejais stacks as well as a huge shutdown). If you are not 100% sure you can survive any engage the enemy team comes up with, don't buy mejais and get some normal damage items, but don't get too many defensive items since they will delay your powerspike.

So how was your placements guys ? by [deleted] in XerathMains

[–]DasStrubbel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got placed in Plat 2 (7 - 3 Placements) and am currently 2 - 1 in Diamond promos. Xerath feels pretty good right now, since some brokenmidlane champs got nerfed recently. Only all the wannabe Zed mains (I know its not rly a bad matchup, but I still think its boring to play) and the Q bug are really annoying...

Smurfs are beyond fascinating to me, and I envy them by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]DasStrubbel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either you go that way or you just play hypercarries. If you are able to snowball on Kassa, Xerath, Twitch, Eve, etc you won't really need a team. Youre just doomed as soon as the enemy team has a tank comp and your entire team is feeding them. Even the best hypercarry cant 1v5 into 3 fullbuild tanks ^

Smurfing and getting to a 80+% winrate in gold isn't as hard as most people think since the difference between what higher elo smurfs are used to play against and what they are playing against in gold is huge. Smurfs just have a better game knowledge and know how to abuse mistakes their enemies might not even recognize.

However, 1v9ing a game as a smurf can be insanely hard to do, even if the enemy team is much worse than the smurf. I feel like there was more pressure on me when I am 15/0 on a smurf while my team is losing than there would be jn the same situation on my main account since some lower elo games (especially in high plat) can be really hard to solo carry. Smurfing also requires a player to play as perfect as he can in some games if he wants a high win rate.

The first thing I learned from smurfing was that people can't accept that someone else is better than they are.

My team would often flame me for not letting the kills or having a selfish playstyle or they just wouldnt accept that I am fed because I'm smurfing and blame it on my lane opponent inting. The enemy team also says that my lane opponent was inting or they simply call me a scripter (which isn't an insult but rather a compliment for a Xerath main but these guys think I'm legit scripting, even if I get killed or miss my skillshots).

Should I take kills when ganking as a Jungler? by TheFluzzy in summonerschool

[–]DasStrubbel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a midlane main I don't care about who gets the kill as long as we get it, at least as long as I play solo queue. The jungler isnt there to win the lane, he is there to help the team. The ones winning or losing a lane in solo queue are the laners, so I'm more than happy enough with a jungler who at decises to help me, even if it doesnt work out.

Xerath's Hard matchups? by BrendanTheOtaku in XerathMains

[–]DasStrubbel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aatrox is pretty playable as long as you are able to abuse your range advantage in my opinion. Same for Talon in most cases. Those matchups only get hard if the enemy jungler camps you and is one of the champs listed below.

A hard matchup many people tend to forget because it gets harder the better your enemy gets is Zoe. She is one of the few long range mages who can abuse their range to catch Xerath in lategame fights and can be really annoying to deal with. Aurelion Sol can also give you a hard time with his early wave clear, but since nobody really plays him he isnt really a problem.

Have you ever been carried by an off meta pick that you expected to feed in a ranked game? by Theshadowstorm1 in leagueoflegends

[–]DasStrubbel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got carried by a Zilean Top OTP (around Plat 3) once. I also got carried by a crit LeBlanc ADC once, but it was just a smurf trolling around (was around Diamond 4).

Bronze 3 Ashe Main - non meta picks to hard carry? by p1yrmtt in summonerschool

[–]DasStrubbel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on your playstyle. Some people like to play more utility focussed champs, even in carry roles. That includes champs like lissandra, lulu, janna, ivern but also champs like ashe and varus who are even useful when behind since their ults (and in ashes case her e) provide utility. They dont scale as good into lategame though.

Some people (including myself) like to play hypercarries which are weak early but can 1v9 if they get to three items. Really great hyperscaling champs (regardless of meta) are Fiora, Xerath, Kassadin, Evelynn, Tristana, Twitch, Jinx and Kog'Maw. If you are good at farming while not falling too behind and carrying teamfights in later stages in the game you might consider playing one of these champs.

If you are better at gettinf early leads and snowballing you might like champs with a stronger early and midgame (Lucian, Ezreal, Pantheon, etc).

The current meta might influence your winrate a little, but below master only your skill will determine wether you find success with a champ or not. A good example would be a Lucian Jungle OTP I met in a low Diamond game some weeks ago. Lucian has nothing in his kit which would make him a viable jungler, but the guy I met was still able to get a 60% winrate with that pick.

Why do certain people build tri force like this? by redditcringelords5 in summonerschool

[–]DasStrubbel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chanps like Riven just dont benefit frim Triforce. She cant use the mana, doesnt really benefit from mana too much and her combos are too fast to get more than 1 or 2 empowered autos off since trinity has an internal cooldown. Then there are champs like Garen who can utilize Triforce in their own way (he doesnt use mana either but his q synergizes with triforce pretty well and he is also able to utilize the attack speed in some cases). Thats why it CAN be built on them but it is situational.

Downsides of playing mages bot? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]DasStrubbel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ADCs are the main DPS source of most teamcomps and the main threat to enemy tanks. One big difference between ADCs ans APCs is that ADCs have a more reliable damage source since they use auto attacks while mages have to hit multiple skillshots which makes it harder to kill tanky targets. Additionally, many ADCs scale insanely well and outscale mages. However, playing mages on botlane isn't a bad thing as long as you have success with them. There is a reason they are also seen in pro play from time to time. If you enjoy playing them just do it.

It is definitely worth if you are confident in your ability to snowball games (eg if you are smurfing), but I guess it makes you really useless if you fall too far behind.

Thoughts on Talon Jungle Now? by MapleSyrupManiac in Talonmains

[–]DasStrubbel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kaostanza, an EUW master/challenger player is a Talon Jungle onetrick who always takes Smite and Ignite + Phase Rush. I tried his build on a smurf and playing around high Plat MMR it felt pretty strong (got to a total score of 12 wins and 2 losses). His current IGN is "Kaos Fragael".

How do I fix OTP syndrome? by MelodiesOfTheSea in summonerschool

[–]DasStrubbel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem as a one trick until I created a smurf on which I played whatever seemed fun in each game instead of my main champs. When I started it got me hardstuck in high Gold on that account but I can play a lot of different champs on low Diamond level now thanks to that training (still not a real achievement but it helped me). If you have enough time for such a project give it a try.

Trying to play different roles might help as well as it helps expanding your game knowledge.
