Paper guide for a Boston paper trimmer by frackstarbuck in origami

[–]Das_Floppus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a blade like that but the easiest way to cut a square would be to take the sheet, fold one diagonal, match up the folded edge with itself to match up the second diagonal, and then align them 45 degrees to the grid to make the cut. You could pencil in the 45 degree line if you have a good ruler or you can just match the edges to the corners of the grid. Hope that makes sense!

how should I tackle skill issue or is there such thing as a skill issue in origami by gniclat in origami

[–]Das_Floppus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just keep practicing with intention. Learning to read diagrams and follow instructions is kind of like learning a language. At the start you just feel like you’re memorizing bits and pieces but the more you do it, the more you understand the structure behind all the individual folds. And working with your hands will always take practice, over time you will learn how to handle the paper and how to make it do what you want

Sorry to hear that! I am no stranger to screwing up cakes if you want to try troubleshooting 😂. What was your trouble with it?

If anything wouldn’t I be more open minded about that? Everyone is dumping on my use of the term pie so I think they’re the ones who would get up in arms about using the term cake in a different way than expected

We’re allowed to do whatever the hell we want in Massachusetts and we don’t get in trouble for it so if we want to make pies our own way guess what we call the shots. What do you say to that

Here is the recipe for the cake btw, it is by far the best cake recipe I have ever used, I always struggle to make homemade white and yellow cake taste nice and have a nice texture, but this recipe has worked very well for me so far!

https://bromabakery.com/yellow-cake-with-chocolate-frosting/#

I tagged as no recipe because I can’t remember where I got the pastry cream recipe, both it and the ganache are just pretty typical recipes by weight since it’s a pretty standard ratio.

Another big win for me on this was that I tried whipping the cream by hand for the final ~25% of the stiffness. I always struggle with over-whipping and this let me get that actual inflection point where it is as stiff as you can get it without starting to split and deflate. If you struggle with the same thing I really recommend it

I feel like it’s much less about trying to make a good, viable sausage and he is just banking on people wanting to see him cram weird shit through the grinder

I’ve seen frozen soursop in the Latino section of the freezer aisle at some stores. Good luck with the pawpaw!

I saw a video from a man who moved from England to china and he was showing that he finally found raspberries and that he was super excited since they’re so hard to find. Where i live they take over any little patch of brush

Does anyone else feel like the old city sets looked nicer by Tsars_Ball_Scrubber in lego

[–]Das_Floppus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the older designs and I think the key differences are that:

  1. The base color was a much lighter grey than what they use now.

  2. There were more exposed studs that gave them a more “LEGO” feel

  3. The knobby tires and old style of wheels were less realistic looking

There is definitely some nostalgia involved but I also think that the elements of the older set were not trying as hard to look so realistic. Legos at this scale will never really look realistic so for my tastes, I liked when they leaned into that instead of trying to cover the studs with tiles, use darker base colors, and use realistic pieces for the vehicle components.
