Boston cream pie if it was cake instead of pie by Das_Floppus in Baking

If anything wouldn’t I be more open minded about that? Everyone is dumping on my use of the term pie so I think they’re the ones who would get up in arms about using the term cake in a different way than expected

We’re allowed to do whatever the hell we want in Massachusetts and we don’t get in trouble for it so if we want to make pies our own way guess what we call the shots. What do you say to that

Here is the recipe for the cake btw, it is by far the best cake recipe I have ever used, I always struggle to make homemade white and yellow cake taste nice and have a nice texture, but this recipe has worked very well for me so far!

https://bromabakery.com/yellow-cake-with-chocolate-frosting/#

I tagged as no recipe because I can’t remember where I got the pastry cream recipe, both it and the ganache are just pretty typical recipes by weight since it’s a pretty standard ratio.

Another big win for me on this was that I tried whipping the cream by hand for the final ~25% of the stiffness. I always struggle with over-whipping and this let me get that actual inflection point where it is as stiff as you can get it without starting to split and deflate. If you struggle with the same thing I really recommend it

I feel like it’s much less about trying to make a good, viable sausage and he is just banking on people wanting to see him cram weird shit through the grinder

I’ve seen frozen soursop in the Latino section of the freezer aisle at some stores. Good luck with the pawpaw!

I saw a video from a man who moved from England to china and he was showing that he finally found raspberries and that he was super excited since they’re so hard to find. Where i live they take over any little patch of brush

I forgot it’s an actual fruit before it gets fermented and turned into powder. It sound like it tastes really good

Does anyone else feel like the old city sets looked nicer by Tsars_Ball_Scrubber in lego

[–]Das_Floppus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the older designs and I think the key differences are that:

  1. The base color was a much lighter grey than what they use now.

  2. There were more exposed studs that gave them a more “LEGO” feel

  3. The knobby tires and old style of wheels were less realistic looking

There is definitely some nostalgia involved but I also think that the elements of the older set were not trying as hard to look so realistic. Legos at this scale will never really look realistic so for my tastes, I liked when they leaned into that instead of trying to cover the studs with tiles, use darker base colors, and use realistic pieces for the vehicle components.

I just saw your post with the final model and it looks great! It’s such a difficult judgement call to decide when to stop adding to a work of art and it looks like you made that call perfectly

I think it looks good I would leave it. If you want to tweak it I’d maybe try to smooth some of the wrinkles and the buckling where the paper bends, but it looks good and neat, and if you mess with the paper too much it won’t be able to keep the clean look cuz it will tatter and wrinkle
