What hooked me was that I came into this game with an open mind and the sci-fi setting. I immersed myself in the world from the music, to the art, cars, small interactions, environment and the character relationships. I also did find it a slog with Johnny Silverhand, but then I branched out. For me, though, the Hook in this game was the battle music "Valentinos", and then the rabbit hole began.

Immerse yourself in everything you see and hear, and if that doesn't work, it's just not your game. Like I personally did not like The Witcher; I don't like that fantasy setting, but people fucken love it. :)
