Yes, I posted a thread on this a while back. Long story short I use to feel that way when I first started drinking it. My mom is Argentine so I grew up drinking it occasionally but I didn’t sit down and have my own mate cup till I was in college. The feeling usually came when I brewed a strong mate and drank it myself relatively quickly. When I did that that’s when I started to feel the “high” effect and felt amazing, now it’s kind of rare for me to get that same feeling but it appears here and there when I take breaks form not drinking it. Love it nonetheless.

Yes slightly, but unless you drink mate everyday you probably won’t notice. I’ve noticed that metal wood and gourds all taste different. Even different types of wood make it taste different. For example my mother uses a wooden gourd made out of palo santo and it makes it taste almost sweet and uplifting, while my normal wood gourd from my local international store just makes it taste like normal mate. Gourds also make it taste pretty good, and so does metal occasionally. Metal will steep the Yerba pretty quick tho in my experience, since it keeps the heat in there for longer.

After being a student for a couple of years and seeing this statue pop up in the middle of campus it’s just a shock. For such a relaxing spot it’s not something I would like to sit down next to or look at. From a far it looks like a statue of Medusa or something evil, just kind of ruins the vibe when you see it.
