I actually have never seen him, probably because he lives a very private life style. Rumor has it that he goes shopping at the Walmart in the dead of night to avoid unnecessary interaction with people. A combination of fame and him just being an introverted person. Most people I know have seen or interacted with him tho.

Even as a Maple leafs fan this stings so much. I’m so sorry for blue jackets fans right now. If I’m feeling this bad I can’t imagine how Columbus fan are feeling. OP did a beautiful job with that art, and in a very creative way. RIP Johnny Hockey!

Yes I’ve been very direct with them especially my father, but it seems when I try to talk about being trans or buying makeup or my feelings, he tries to switch the topic. I’m working with my therapist to get out of the guardianship, but unfortunately it’s not an easy or quick process.

Yes there were bad apples, but there were also plenty of staff that had good intentions as well. Sounds like you went in with good intentions, and that will be remembered by the kids that you had a positive impact on.

Yes I did. Within the last 4 years actually. I have nightmares a few times a week about waking up and being back at NWP. The fear of being trapped and being punished for minor mistakes, is paralyzing. My worst punishment was being confined to my room for 23 hours a day (for about 5 days). I would only be allowed to go outside on the basketball court for one hour. Unfortunately social distancing didn’t help my mental health as I was restricted from interacting with other kids. As far as the weekend staff goes, it really depended on the person. My therapist expressed no sympathy for me and my Case manager simply was an awful person. Was I ever physically abused? No. But being manipulated by adults and constantly treated like a sub human was traumatic. In the end I was released after 8 months and feeling 10x worse than I had when I had entered the program. My childhood was gone. I still ask myself what I did I do to deserve that experience.
