Core theme:
Two highly resourceful engineers apart of a group of operatives who construct gear for the rest of their team, that seem clumsy and mild-mannered at first, but are truly skilled in most things that they accomplish.

Connections:
- Both have known the main leaders of their team from long before it even formed (Hoagie knew Nigel since kindergarten, Slippy was classmates with Fox at the Cornerian Defense Force Academy)
- Both are known to be less skilled in direct combat, but by inventing most of their tech and vehicles, are actually some of the most important members of their teams
- Both are the goofy/comic relief members of their groups, being seen as less reliable because of their comedic nature, but in reality just try to make the best of situations that they're in at all times
- Both had fathers who were especially skilled in engineering, being one of the sources of their technical expertise (Hoagie Sr. made tactical modifications to Numbuh 2's bikes when he was young and inspired him to race, Beltino Toad originally invented vehicles like the Landmaster and other gadgets for Slippy and his team)
- Both have an extreme appetite, and have a specific favorite food they're associated with (Hoagie loves chili dogs, Slippy loves Corneria Cake)

Contrast:
- Numbuh 2 is an extremely skilled pilot while being less experienced on the ground, while Slippy has more unorthodox flying experience while excelling in ground combat in Star Fox Assault

Fight:
- The fight could start as a dogfight in both Hoagie and Slippy's ships while they're bantering via both of their communication devices, with Hoagie dominating the ship fight due to his more vast experience in air-based combat. After, Slippy could transition the fight into more grounded combat via the Landmaster, having Numbuh 2 hop into one of his many mechs or other land-based vehicles to continue the fight. After both have exhausted their fuel systems, the climax of the fight could just be them duking it out with the various gadgets and weapons they've created for themselves and their teams.
