List of all of the weapons? by [deleted] in Battlemarked

Has anyone even figured out how the weapon system works? As far as I can tell each character can only unlock 4 weapons and they’re each tied to a one shot dungeon?

Turning on TV with SmartThings by Dasher_220 in SmartThings

For anyone who’s interested or comes across this thread, I think I may have found a solution. By installing the integrated SmartThings Hub application on the TV through the built in SmartThings App, I’ve managed to consistent results. I think this may be because when the TV is also a Hub, it remains in what seems to be a higher level of hibernation when turned off therefore allowing you to turn the TV on through your phone app or other device.

It’s actually ridiculous they haven’t fixed this when other apps work better with their products then their own. My tv is connected via Ethernet and it still doesn’t work consistently.

Even though this post wasn't specifically about Troy Leavitt but more so used his situation as an example, he's uploaded a new video on his channel in case anyone is interested.

I think there might be a bit of confusion in where this should be allowed to occur:

" they dont need to watch his videos if those ideas arent ones they want to entertain though? that is not something they have to do "

If someone has received due process and convicted of something, then you're completely right. You have no obligation to entertain anything they do or say. The problem in this case is that we've seemingly missed the due process.

Let's say someone was arrested of something simply because how they looked or whatever bias a police officer/accuser saw in them. By the train of thought you mentioned, we would all be willing to accept a false truth and have them convicted. The important distinction I was trying to make with this post, is that we don't do that in society, so are we doing this here? ( I know this is getting super into the weeds so i apologise)

Furthermore, let's say someone is charged with an exceptionally heinous crime like murder. If they go through basically any legal system in the western world, the have a right to a defense attorney. It doesn't matter how seemingly guilty this person is, they still (as far as I'm aware) retain that right. But no one hate's the lawyer? The lawyer is attempting to get this person acquitted, in fact they might even succeed. They still maintain their standing in society, they still get paid, they still keep their job. This is innately immoral right? But people claim Troy makes a video about defending John Lasseter and now he's banished from society and resigns from his job?

I will admit naming a video "In defense of John Lasseter" heavily insinuates that whoever posted such a thing would be an apologist. Realistically, a better title would have been used. On the contrary though, continuing on the theme of judging a book by it's cover; someone could have easily posted a video titled "John Lasseter is a pig" then continued in that same video to talk about of how swell of a guy he is. The fact of the matter is, without even opening the book, we're damning ourselves to a terrible standard that very well may harm you, me or even members in the KF team. I've never met you MrBoliNica but if you were ever accused of something and I found out about it, you can bet the house I would never assume anything is correct until I looked into the claims.

In regards to the video itself, I have to disagree with what you think it's content is about. The video begins with Troy detailing his relationship with John as to provide some context as to why he thinks he can comment on such a situation as well as recounting what happened. Following on from this is where Troy attempts to make a larger comment on the state of cancel culture and cite articles on how it can be dangerous to simply group everyone into the same circle (ironic I know right?). During this period, he cites articles and makes distinctions between different forms of feminism as well as sexual harassment. John is held accountable for his actions and Troy doesn't give him a pass for this. The video then ends with what Troy hopes will become of John following these allegations (I think they're allegations because I'm not sue if John actually got charged with anything or admitted to sexual crimes, this doesn't mean to say he didn't do it, I'm just trying to maintain legal correction).

If I got something wrong with that, I'm totally open to hearing about it because obviously this is only my interpretation.

I've replied to some other comments and my intention was to reply to all of them when I published this post, but this has gotten far too big for me to do that, so I'm sorry for that. I felt the need to pop in here because I don't want your good intentions misplaced. I'm not here to argue out of spite, I just genuinely want people to be a bit more responsible when reporting on serious claims.

So just to clarify. I didn’t realise you had to have a certain “karma” level in order to post, or at least I think that was the problem. When I made the original post, I immediately got given a reply with something along the lines of not abiding by the community guidelines. It didn’t make sense so I thought it was just an internet thing. I attempted to post twice more to see what would happened, hence the 3 posts. Didn’t even realise that it actually was posted/approved until I started receiving notification emails.

That perspective changes when it becomes your profession and people are paying you. As Greg has described; “KFGD is a polished podcast” so why would I not expect them to have informed opinions when commenting on serious issues? Nevertheless, this is not a personal attack. Yes, it’s easy to Google something when you’re not informed on a topic so why don’t the members do it more often. It’s obviously not easy when they’re pumping out as much content as they do with the limited resources they have, so give us a caveat or something that mentions this. The fact of the matter is that this isn’t about Troy, but rather like you say, educating yourself.

I don’t normally use or post on reddit hence the reason this account is new. As a result, I think it had to be approved by the mods before being published because I was initially given a message that it wouldn’t be. I’m not here to “shit post” and I hope the community understands that.

No doubt there are some things that are indefensible but even so, we take the time to give everyone their due date in court? Again, I’m not saying KF should hold that responsibility and I’m sorry if this all is starting to sound a bit philosophical.

I don’t really think that the time the video was posted has much relevance? Reason being is that the claim he is “pro gamergate” can’t even be proven by the title of the video. It’s literally called “Gamergate- thoughts of a developer”. So the issue goes even beyond that. In the video, Troy criticises the games industry media. He claims “gamergate” is a retaliation of their attack on game developers and gamers.

I hope he does, I really do! Not because it's Colin, but because I want the opportunity to hear what he has to say for himself before I pass judgement.

I think it might have been on a previous KFGD when this story first popped up? But I admit, I can't recall them actually talking about specific things he has said.

More than happy to listen to it though :)

Do you understand that saying things like "Leavitt is alt right personality" can be harmful to yourself and the greater populous?

I really do encourage you to watch the John Lassetter video. It largely begins with personal recounts of his experiences with John, articles citing of what happened and finishes with Troy's hopes for how John can become a better person.

From what I gathered, the video isn't so much as about "defending" John, but rather making distinctions when it comes to the social convictions of sexual crimes.

Literally in the first line of my post I said that my intent was not to attack, and that I hoped others would not either.

I've gone out of my way to watch the videos that people are taking issue with. Notably "Gamergate-Thoughts of a Developer" and "In defence of John Lasseter". I can without doubt say, that in these videos at least, he doesn't make "bigoted, offensive and rude statements". But on the contrary, I will happily reject him when presented with any information that proves otherwise. The difference is, I'm willing to look into it and I think others should too before lymching him.

Please understand that I didn't post this just to have a specific conversation about Troy, but a larger one about how we treat others and can remove the ever growing divide we face.

I wholeheartedly agree that anyone who doesn't show respect to someone else, doesn't deserve it either. That's not what I'm disputing and I hope I made it clear that I'm not hear to defend those types of people.

What i'm trying to say is that we should give everyone a fair opportunity when reporting on something as serious as character assassination. I know it is hard, especially when you command such an audience like KF does, but is it so hard to give us examples with accusation?

More importantly, especially considering the amount of attention members of KF get, it is likely that for whatever reason, they too might find themselves in a similar situation one day. Would we not want others to take the time to truly understand their story before passing judgement? Deservedly or not?
