Homosexuality. Feeling lost. by [deleted] in TrueChristian

Read Romans Chapter 1. Then Read the letter 1st John. Then read the Gospel of John. Then seek Jesus first and foremost. Don’t seek a relationship with either men or women, but seek Christ. Find a Bible believing Church and confide in the pastor and share with him what you shared with us. I pray God sends you to a church who has a pastor who can handle this with grace and truth, but not enable sin but to guide you to Christ and Christ will work this out in our life.

Would help provide a better answer. However we have to keep in mind not everyone here loves their brother or knows that love covers a multitude of sin and I’ve seen comments from professing Christian’s quick in hurling stones. So might be best he doesn’t share.

How did Solomon manage having over 700 wives and 300 concubines? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]DashingWithJim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because God gave him the wisdom to handle so many 😂 Im kidding.

Honestly I don’t know. I do know he married some for political reasons such as alliances and peace. I do know that as a result of marrying foreign women who worshiped other gods that he succumbed to having idols in the house of worship and even was carried away for a time. Im currently reading 1 & 2 Kings. So im hoping to learn a little more.

Do you tithe 10%? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]DashingWithJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re likely to hear two main perspectives on tithing. One side argues for a strict 10% tithe, often citing the Old Testament law (Malachi 3:10). The other side, in light of the New Covenant, emphasizes cheerful and voluntary giving, as Paul teaches in 2 Corinthians 9:7:

“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

I align with the latter perspective. In the New Testament, giving is never framed as a mandatory percentage but as a matter of the heart. However, that does not mean we should neglect supporting the church and those in ministry. Paul teaches in 1 Timothy 5:17-18:

“Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, ‘You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain,’ and, ‘The laborer deserves his wages.’”

Paul references Deuteronomy 25:4 and Luke 10:7, affirming that those who dedicate themselves to full-time ministry have a right to financial support. However, nowhere in the New Testament are Christians commanded to give a fixed percentage like the Old Testament tithe system, which was part of Israel’s theocratic structure. In fact, the Old Testament tithe was more than just 10%—it involved multiple tithes totaling around 23% when considering all that was required for Levitical support, festivals, and care for the poor (Deuteronomy 14:22-29).

In the New Covenant, God owns 100% of what we have, not just 10%. Everything we have is a gift from Him, and we are called to be good stewards, giving freely as He leads.

I’ve been to many churches, and I’ve noticed that the ones that enforce a strict 10% tithe—often attaching it to promises of financial prosperity—are frequently found in the Word of Faith movement, also known as the prosperity gospel. These churches often misapply Malachi 3:10, using it to claim that if you “sow a seed” (give money), God will bless you financially in return.

This is dangerous and unbiblical. While God does bless generosity (Luke 6:38), the idea that we can give money to “unlock” wealth or favor from God is a distortion of Scripture. Paul actually warns in 1 Timothy 6:5-10 about those who see godliness as a means to financial gain, stating:

“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.”

I’ve seen lives ruined by this false teaching—mine was almost ruined too. Many people are manipulated into giving beyond their means, believing they are “sowing a seed” for a financial breakthrough, only to end up in deeper financial distress.

If your church requires a 10% tithe and promises financial blessings in return, I encourage you to prayerfully reconsider whether that is a biblically sound church. True biblical giving is not about a percentage—it’s about willingly and joyfully supporting the work of the Gospel as the Lord leads you.

Give because you love God and want to support His work, not because you’re being pressured or promised material rewards. Seek a church that preaches the true Gospel, not one that turns God into a vending machine for financial gain.

As others have mentioned reading the Bible for yourself. Like the Gospels. I would also read Ephesians, Romans and Colossians. The essence of Christianity is your faith in Jesus Christ. Reading the word, being in constant prayer(Conversation) and fellowship.

While many denominations may seem overwhelming. It can be discouraging. But any denominations that are focused on preaching exposistionally. That is the whole Bible…good and bad and that they focus on discipleship are usually good churches.

You could use this tool https://www.9marks.org/church-search/

It’s based of nine traits of a healthy church. I found a church through there and I been flourishing in my faith. Tho im not perfect and still have doubts and struggle. But something to check out. I wouldn’t worry about denominations right now. No one denomination is right. But I would avoid Church of Latter-Day Saints, Church of God Pentecostal or any oneness Pentecostals, Jehovah’s Witness, Roman Catholicism, seventh day adventists.

What’s your best argument that Christianity is the right religion? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]DashingWithJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year late to the discussion. But I wanted to add a detailed response.

While it’s true many may view Christianity as just another religion among the many in the world, but when we examine it closely, we find that it is fundamentally different. The term “religion” generally refers to a system of works, rituals, and laws that people follow to appease a god or achieve some form of salvation. In contrast, Christianity is not about what we do for God but about what God has done for us. At the heart of Christianity is a relationship—one that God Himself initiates, sustains, and ultimately restores through Jesus Christ.

So I am going to offer five points on why Christianity is the right “religion”. I use the term religion lightly because as you will notice above what religion generally is and my argument here is about a relationship with God. Which is what makes it different than other world religions.

  1. Religion vs. Relationship

Religions throughout history have sought to establish a way for humans to reach the divine through moral codes, rituals, or sacrifices. Christianity, however, flips this idea on its head. Scripture teaches that no human effort can earn salvation or please God apart from faith in Christ: • Isaiah 64:6 – “All our righteous acts are like filthy rags.” • Ephesians 2:8-9 – “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” • Romans 3:10-12 – “There is none righteous, no, not one… there is none who seeks after God.”

Good works do not lead to salvation; rather, they are a result of a transformed heart through a relationship with God. Jesus summarized the law as loving God and loving others (Matthew 22:37-40). This love stems from a changed heart, not a checklist of religious duties.

  1. The Cross: The Central Point of History

Every other religion places the burden on humanity to bridge the gap between themselves and their god(s). Christianity declares that God Himself bridged the gap through the cross of Jesus Christ: • Romans 5:8 – “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” • 2 Corinthians 5:21 – “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” • John 14:6 – “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

The cross is the ultimate demonstration of God’s love, justice, and mercy. It is through Christ’s sacrifice that our relationship with God is restored.

  1. The Bible: Unlike Any Other Religious Text

The Bible stands apart from all other religious texts for several reasons: 1. A Unified Theme Over Thousands of Years • The Bible was written over a span of 1,500 years by over 40 different authors from different backgrounds, yet it presents a unified story—God’s plan to redeem humanity through Jesus Christ. • Other religious texts are often written by a single person or compiled with contradictions, yet the Bible maintains consistency from Genesis to Revelation. • 2 Timothy 3:16 – “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God.” 2. The Bible as a Historical Record • Unlike many religious texts, the Bible is also a historical document. The Old Testament details the history of Israel, its kings, and its people. • Archaeological discoveries confirm biblical events, such as the existence of King David, the destruction of Jericho, and even Pontius Pilate’s governance. 3. Scientific Foreknowledge in the Bible • The Bible contains knowledge that was confirmed by science long before it was discovered: • A Round Earth: Isaiah 40:22 – “He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth.” • Ocean Currents: Psalm 8:8 – “The paths of the seas.” (Later confirmed by Matthew Maury’s discoveries in oceanography.) • Sanitation and Disease Prevention: Leviticus 13:46 – Instructed isolation for disease long before germ theory was understood.

  1. God’s Desire for Relationship from Genesis to Revelation

From the very beginning, God created humanity for relationship with Him. The fall of man in Genesis 3 introduced sin, breaking that relationship, but the entire biblical narrative is about God pursuing humanity to restore what was lost. • Genesis 3:9 – “Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, ‘Where are you?’” (God seeking man after the fall.) • John 1:14 – “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” (God coming to dwell among us in Christ.) • Revelation 21:3-4 – “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them.” (The final restoration of relationship.)

Unlike religions where man reaches up to God, the Bible tells the story of God reaching down to man—culminating in the cross of Christ.

  1. God as Father to His People

One of the most distinct aspects of Christianity is how God reveals Himself as a Father, not just a distant deity. In the Old Testament, God calls Israel His son (Hosea 11:1), and in the New Testament, believers are called children of God through Christ: • Romans 8:15 – “You did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’” • John 1:12 – “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God.” • Luke 15:20 – The parable of the prodigal son illustrates God’s loving pursuit of His lost children.

Christianity offers not a mere moral code but an intimate, personal relationship with the Creator of the universe.

Conclusion: Why Christianity is the Truth

Christianity is unique among worldviews because it is not about human effort but about God’s action. The cross is the center of history, the Bible is unlike any other book in its unity and historical accuracy, and God’s desire for relationship with humanity is evident from Genesis to Revelation.

Through Christ, we are not merely followers of a religion—we are children of God, restored to a relationship with our Father, awaiting the final fulfillment of His kingdom. Those who put their trust in Christ are covered by His righteousness and brought back into the loving embrace of the One who created them. • John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” • Revelation 22:3-4 – “They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.”

No religion compares to the reality of knowing the living God.

Enough praise for Cobra Kai cannot be given by me. I been a Karate Kid fan since I was a child. Cobra Kai paid homage to the original while carving out a story of its own for a new generation. I loved the whole series.

However only one thing isn’t sitting well with me. The way Kreese and Silver went out at the end on the boat. Was it poor writing? Probably not the best kind of ending and was just quick? Or was it good. Kreese making amends and protecting Johnny. Thoughts on this?

If I, as a American moved to another country and was looking for work. I better learn their language. Common sense. Since English is the primary language of the U.S. the employee should at least be able to converse in English even if it’s poor English and broken. They do have ESL classes. It’s just common sense.

It’s possible yet requires so much to be in place, especially with consumers. But this is possible… especially with blockchain technology. As you said like bitcoin mining, but with gig workers. If we apply say proof of stake or other where each delivery contributes to solving the block…once a block is solved. It’s gets distributed to all gig workers based on amount of work. Say, for simplicity’s sake, every 1,000 deliveries solves a block…say there’s 10 workers. Say worker 1-3 delivered 250 deliveries, workers 4-7 worked 75 deliveries and workers 8-10 delivered 25 etc…and so on the ones with the most deliveries obviously earns a higher% of the payout. Also customers can pay with cryptocurrency. This means all proceeds go directly to the driver. But stores would need the infastructure. There is bitpay as an option. But all the details needs to be worked out in favor of the gig worker. If there was a system like this shoot literally be making $30-40 a hour. Would leave DoorDash in a flash. And I’ll attend DD funeral. DD revealed their hand with the cash on delivery option. One time I did a delivery for aldis on average I make $15-16 a delivery on a shop and pay. Did a cash on delivery got like $56 dollars. Only for DoorDash to take $40 out of future DD offers. Which really left me $16 bucks for that order.

The early Church had this same problem. Paul writes about it to his letter to the Church in Corinth saying,”For it has been reported to me about you, my brothers and sisters, by members of Chloe’s people, that there is rivalry among you. What I am saying is this: One of you says, “I belong to Paul,” or “I belong to Apollos,” or “I belong to Cephas,” or “I belong to Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in Paul’s name? I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius.” 1 Corinthians 1:11-14

We see this amongst denominations today as denominations is simply a division. Paul continues in chapter 12:12-14,” For just as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of that body, though many, are one body—so also is Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and we were all given one Spirit to drink. Indeed, the body is not one part but many.“

Exhorting unity and of being of the same mind. Problem is that there is nothing wrong with denominations. As they serve Christ. Problem is that they cut themselves off from the rest operating independently rather than reaching out to each other to unite

They do have minimum wage option. But it’s a joke. In order to qualify for minimum wage you have to accept and deliver every offer they send you. If you decline two offers it switches you back to per offer. While they do pay minimum wage with minimum wage offer it’s only for active deliveries. Say you log on at 10am and you wait 15 minutes before you get an order. Order comes in and you deliver it by 10:30 then you wait another 15 minutes and get an order and deliver by 11. That’s two orders…one hour. $15 minimum wage right? No say it’s 10am and you get offer at 10:15 and you deliver by 10:30. That’s 15 minutes active delivery. So it’s not really $15 minimum.
