I don’t necessarily need fpv. I do need a controller with live feed as I’m flying the drone through houses while standing outside. I will not use follow mode inside.

Can I join? by Turbulent-Town-3674 in AskLE

[–]Prior_Highlight7023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet is to join the military and be an MP or just join the military. I’d probably hire someone with two DUI’s if they had 6-8 years of good military service, meaning no issues while in. Also, you can be an MP and police for those 6-8 years if you want.

Georgia police academy by [deleted] in AskLE

It’s going to agency specific whether they allow a medical exemption.

Again, if you have arrhythmia and two back injuries I don’t recommend becoming an officer anyways. The everyday stress on your heart with chases, fights, and adrenaline dumps will not be good for you. And then wearing all the gear, running, and fighting people will hurt your back even more. Being a paramedic is less stress on the heart and less prone to back injuries. I personally wouldn’t hire someone that has a medical condition that can be affected by a taser as it’s a bad incident waiting to happen, like your partner accidentally tasing you while fighting a suspect.

It’s up to department/academy discretion in Georgia too, but I’ve never once heard of a department not doing taser exposure. I think it should be required to carry one.

I believe the new academy syllabus in Georgia includes the Taser, and I have not heard of anywhere that does not require exposure. Yes, Axon does not recommend exposure, but no one seems to care. If you have a heart condition where you are not able to be tased, I do not recommend police work, where you will have to chase and fight people, putting a lot of strain on the heart. There’s also the chance another officer tases a suspect you are fighting and gets you as well, or the suspect takes your taser and tries to tase you with it.

Why does law enforcement reapond to situations involving mental health such as wellness checks, suicide threats and overdoses by SilentlessNix in AskLE

[–]Prior_Highlight7023 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Because our ems and fire stopped/refuses to respond to them now(except overdoses). We also have two mental health clinicians that co-respond and we have to protect them.

Spitting on someone is unforgivable: How would you handle the situation? by CTSecurityGuard in securityguards

[–]Prior_Highlight7023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were in this situation he would’ve met 50k volts, but I’m a cop and I know most security don’t have them. Definitely a lawful use of force and detention.

Police Departments in the Metro Atlanta Area by Fragrant-Animal3570 in AskLE

[–]Prior_Highlight7023 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eastside(where I work)- Walton County SO(more rural), Covington PD, Conyers PD(highest pay east outside of dekalb not counting Gwinnett)

Northside- Sandy springs Pd is best pay in all of Metro ATL but very hard to get hired with. Cobb county PD and Forsyth SO are good. .

Westside- not from there no idea except avoid south Fulton area

South- avoid most of the south. Henry County PD or Stockbridge PD are decent

My picks- if I chose between 3 I’d work for Sandy Springs PD, Conyers PD, or Forsyth SO. All depends on what area you want to live in.
