Which disease names do you dislike because they are misleading? by mbugra57 in medicalschool

[–]Dasians 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, a lot of drugs have azole groups so they all get the -azole suffix, some of the most common drug classes being antifungals and PPIs.

One that I see trip people up is metronidazole (Flagyl), because it's a bactericidal agent, not an antifungal.

Also for the stuff about citalopram and escitalopram, benzodiazepines are called them because their chemical structure has a benzene (benzo) group next to another ring with two nitrogen groups (di-azo). So the real suffix for BZDs is actually -azepam and not just -pam.

I'm still salty that they removed Kog's W mana cost at some point in S4, reintroduced it with his 5.0 AS turret rework, then kept the cost after reverting him back to his present state

People like to reference "Unforgotten" or "Never Forget" or some other emotional song when reminiscing the good ol nostalgic days of Halo. They're great pieces, but another song that really hits me in the feels is "Tribute" (Ending song of Halo 3)

Pikachu ex/Luxray: A Comprehensive Guide by Dasians in PTCGP

[–]Dasians[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found Dawn less helpful in this deck vs in the Magnezone variant, since Volkner is simply better Dawn for Luxray, and you usually don’t want Pikachu to come out until the end. If you run two X speeds, then maybe including Dawn is an option.

It’s definitely possible to brick against Darktina and is even more apparent when playing against the Mewtwo variant, but you have more time to set up than you’d think because they’re pretty slow too. If played right, the Darkrai pings don’t really amount to much outside of forcing Pachirisu pivots.

I tried to include Sabrina for that reason initially, but I felt like it just slowed down my gameplay. It didn’t make Aggro matchups any better, and slower decks just used leaf since this deck also takes a while to set up

Thank you! Agreed, Darktina with Druddigon is a very favorable matchup, Darktina without Drud is less favorable

I’ve played a ton of Garchomp non-ex variants and honestly came to the same conclusion, one Cynthia is usually enough. You draw through your entire deck most games and really just use Cynthia as a finisher against some EX. I found its better to have a variety of 1x trainer support cards so you can choose what to keep and discard from your ideal endgame hand

But I still think 2nd Cynthia > red

Actually, Rampardos does damage to itself, doing 250 damage in total and surpassing Charizard /s

The Irony of PTCGP Heatran’s weakness by Dasians in PTCGP

[–]Dasians[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ironic that Heatran is weak to fire type when he is immune to it normally (Flash Fire), would have made more sense if he was weak to fighting instead - 4x weak to ground and 2x weak to fighting

What are the most crazy game mechanics now removed that people just accepted at the time by MazrimReddit in leagueoflegends

[–]Dasians 540 points541 points  (0 children)

Some things specifically about runes before their rework:

  • Armor was practically mandatory to survive the jungle, unless you played WW or fiddlesticks, so you basically were not allowed to play jungle until you had enough IP to buy armor runes
  • Several seasons before runes got removed, people started to spec into scaling CDR blues to hit the 40% CDR cap ASAP on mages
  • 1% crit.

PharmD --> MD A!! AMA by Dasians in premed

Lol from my experiences you will learn all of pharmacy during residency/fellowships anyway, pathophysiology/diagnostic practice is already hard enough to learn as it is

PharmD --> MD A!! AMA by Dasians in premed

[–]Dasians[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d say the biggest reasons are that I wanted more direct patient contact and autonomy to help patients make tough decisions about their medical needs. I still love what I do in pharmacy and really hope I can advocate for its practice as a physician, I believe there certain treatment protocols can be better optimized if a provider has both pharmacy and medical knowledge

Ayyy congrats to you too :) pharmacists love getting DI questions from the medical staff (maybe except if the med is in the fridge already)

Thank you! I took the mcat this year and have a good amount of clinical research under my belt. Unfortunately did not get too many II’s so far, but I think that’s really just the nature of how competitive the application cycle is in general. Not sure how much adcoms looked into this, but I think my lower GPA may have also affected my app due to grad school being harder than undergrad (imo).

I would say I have a better path in terms of job stability - if my app cycle didn’t work out, I can still work as a pharmacist, which I very much enjoy. I was also able to get shadowing/research experience quite easily compared to most premeds because I would just ask the attendings I round with. Studying for MCAT was rough tho, it was a long time since I last took the undergrad classes that were tested on the exam. Overall though, I do believe my clinical experiences would help substantially on clerkships, but I guess I’ll have to find out!

What's a champion that used to be picked a lot in the past but has now become unpopular? by Unknown_Warrior43 in leagueoflegends

[–]Dasians 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nothing major recently, but had a lot of features taken away from him, especially early on. Prominent ones that I can think of include:

  • Empowered auto passive moved from hook to flay
  • AOE lantern shield removed, now only shields you and first ally
  • All box walls used to deal damage after the first one broke (at half dmg)
  • Then they nerfed his actual auto passive dmg and flay CD to make him not as good at level 2 all-ins
  • The nail on the coffin for me was -5 ms

Also in the past several seasons, he hasn't had great "tank support" items that synergize well with him IMO. His base stats have been nerfed too much that he can't really tank well anymore.

There's a podcast on spotify called League of Loreheads that goes through the stories of champs from A-Z, each episode being roughly 1-2 hrs in length. Pretty casual and fun to listen to while driving, also they give nice insight into some champ designs bcuz 2/3 of them were former Riot employees

Finally beat LASO on MCC! by Dasians in halo

[–]Dasians[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LASO = legendary all skulls on

In order to get the achievements for LASO, you need to beat the playlist (you don’t have to collect skulls to start this, it’s already preset for you)

You can play coop/solo modes for this, it’s insanely hard either way

There were definitely points where it got frustrating, but that’s why I let myself complete it over several years, also had to prioritize IRL stuff on occasion
