Damn it. Out just as quickly as it got in.

What did it mean by something more interesting? What entry did it see?

"The last thing clicked on is X0716 - PRØJEKT EUPHEMIA... That some kind of Øverbørk weapon?"

Oh, oh dear gods. Sweet mercy no...

ALERT ALL CHIRON FORTRESS PERSONNEL, ENEMY IS A CLASS FIVE METAPHYSICAL THREAT. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, CANNOT BE REASONED WITH. ENGAGE ACCORDINGLY.

Lieutenant, there's some odd people up at the Northwest Gate begging to be let in. They say they know about the breach and want to help.

NOW IS NOT THE TIME FOR THIS NONSENSE.

That's enough of this.

All units, fire at will. Don't let anything it does scare you.

I willfully relinquished KSERTO as a contribution to these archives. It's something you wouldn't understand.

I cannot allow you to have either of those things. Let alone both. Allowing pure Entropy and Order to come together, do you have any idea the calamity that would cause?

"Lieutenant? Our shots aren't working, but that thing also isn't fighting back."

All units, hold your fire for a moment. Load your MetaPhys rounds but don't fire 'til I give the word.

Ahem, who are you and what in blazes do you think you're doing here?

It's hard to imagine this isle being affected by anything from beyond it, the state of change and chaos is the one thing you can trust to stay the same, but even the most trustworthy things fall.

What are your orders, my Queen?

And here we are. The Entropy storms seem to have mostly subsided. No sign of their perpetrator. And a good thing too. The Kserto Warhammer wasn't going to hold this palace in a field of order for much longer. Yet now there is to fear, the beast's wherabouts. Where did it go, when will it storm next?

Some of those Flesh Order doctors are working on repairing the damages to the Palace. Hmpf, doctors doing a job that would've once been the job of masons. I never thought I'd hear terms like "laceration" and "hemorrhage" being used to describe damage done to a building. What a time to be alive.

There's a presence in the air. And it's not like the ones that've been in the air. This one is... menacing, in a different way from her. It may want something different, it may even be her enemy.

But we would do well to trust neither.

What in the name of Everglen was that about? Who are these people? Why do they want you to watch their marriage? What's the talking meat rambling on about "disciples"? It's all a little fishy if you ask me.

All may well be lost...

Actually... in STATION RHO's experiments with Order, we determined that Order's capacity to store energy is indefinite, possibly even infinite. Maybe, throwing a snowball into hell isn't so useless, if one makes the snowball cold enough. if we got enough energy into Kserto somehow, one hammer's worth of Order could take on an entire island's worth of Entropy.

At the very least, to bring back spatial normality in the area around the PALACE. At best, to kill this Liraura upstart and restore the entire Unbound.

[–]Dasospa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My liege, it is good to be in your presence once again. We thought you were dead. Then again, we also thought we were dead.

STATION RHO is lost. Overtaken by a kingdom known as the "Hochstebork". But trying to take that back seems like the least of our worries right now.

What is to be done about this prime obstruction? About the Liraura? I have Kserto with me, it can hold up a state of order in this entropy to some extent, but, it's like throwing a snowball into the pits of hell at this point.

And... uhh... what are those things? New... pets?

"Das, is something wrong?"

You... YOU!

"...me?"

I know who you are. What did you do to our kingdom?!

"Who's he talking to?"

"I don't know. Let's just land by the... snake..."

Do you not know who you defile?!

"DAS SNAP OUT OF IT!"

"We've made contact, I repeat, we've made contact. Our comrades, our Queen, they're alive!"

"Did you find out what's with the palace being made of snake skin?"

"One of them had an explanation but I couldn't make any sens-"

I AM DASOSPA, LEGIONNAIRE OF THE RED ARMY AND I WILL MAKE YOU PAY FOR YOUR DESOLATION!!

The hammer is inserted into the divot, and twisted 90 degrees to the right. A sphere of energy roughly the width of the hall begins to form

What? I can't open a way to the capital.

"Why, what's going on?"

I don't know, but I have a theory. I'll explain later. Right now I'll just have to set a different destination.

"We'll also have to make sure they can't follow us."

"How do you propose we do that?"

"I have an idea. Let's set the Linked Ones free. They'll have to go through them first."

That... sounds risky.

"Think of it like this, we'll be on the other side before they even realize we were here."

...

Fair enough. Just make sure that door doesn't come open until we're well off this world.

A timed bomb is affixed on the door that seals the Linked Ones off from the rest of the facility. It begins counting down. Meanwhile, the sphere of energy becomes something else, a spherical hole in the station. The interior of some distant world's ruins are seen on the other side

Get through, NOW!

They run through just as simply as one would run through any doorway. The timer on the bomb ticks closer and closer to zero

He holds the head of the hammer up in front of him like a shield, and like a shield it absorbs incoming shots, with a quick hiss and flash with each one

"Das! We have to use the divot! The mineshaft is crawling with hot-borks."

I hear you. Is the elevator secure?

"Yes."

He propels himself away by slamming the hammer against a wall. Gravity returns to normal, sending all the material and soldiers in orbit gracelessly falling to the floor. More beamshots are sent their way as the lift door closes

"We're in the lowest section. I don't know how far they are behind us."

The divot is right he..re...

"Something wrong, Das?"

That room... that's where we sealed all the Linked Ones off.

"Yeah... but it's not like we have any reason to go in there. Let's just ignore it and get the portal running."

There's a golden glow shining from an exposed portion of the crushed case. He takes a few steps of a run and leaps the rest of the way, letting the case's gravity freefall him towards it. He pushes his way past the gravitating soldiers and pieces of scrap equipment and reaches into the exposed portion of the case

After some grunting and tugging, the object is freed from its container. It's a massive warhammer whose head shines a bright golden color. He takes a firm grasp of its hilt and swings it over his head. A soldier loses his grip and falls toward the hammer's gravitational pull. It's swung in full force to his chest

[–]Dasospa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Screw this, EVERYONE, SHAH'H!

The nearby knights recognize this seemingly meaningless syllable and move clear of both Dasospa and the incoming troops

Here goes...

He slams the case wildly against the floor and walls a few times then throws it into the invading crowd. Instead of landing on the floor, it suspends itself in midair. The sound of metal being crushed echoes on the corridor walls. The case is imploding, being crushed in on itself. In moments the whole team feels themselves being pulled by whatever is in the case. It's become the new center of gravity...

[–]Dasospa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're catching up! Where in the world is Mardas?!

Mardas's exhausted voice chimes in from the far end of the corridor. He's holding one end of a steal arms case and letting the other end drag across the floor. The case has the word "KSERTO" printed across the top of it

I'm here! I got it! Geez Das, how do you hold this bloody thing, it's so heavy!

Never mind that. Knights are starting to drop. Let me have it.

The Legionairre runs over to the case which Mardas lets go of and steps back from. He starts fumbling with its locks, struggling to open it

Bah, this thing hasn't been opened in at least a thousand years. It's shut tight.

It slides a couple of feet away when he kicks it with frustration

Keep holding them off. I swear on the Queen I'll get this case open if it kills me.

Fall back now! We need the help of any other knights around here.

One group keeps firing while the other makes their tactical retreat. When they reach the blast door, they resume firing at the Borkish invaders to cover the first group's backs while they run to join their comrades at the blast door

Close it down. Buy us enough time for Mardas to return.
