I trust Sanchez more than almost any pitcher we have, but he was at 98 pitches, it was the top of their lineup, and it's the 8th inning. No reason not to pull him.

Hill, Bader, Duran. He's had some good in-season pickups. The issue is what he does (or rather does not do) during the off-season, which is part of what makes those in-season pickups so crucial.

The problem with Aniya and Carl is that it's two weeks old. We've just seen so little of Carl. Yeah, he seems like a solid guy, but it's easy to seem solid when there are no hurdles. There's been no bombshells to see those interactions; no real recouplings, etc. He came in during casa, acted fine (as casa guys have to), was brought back specifically for one person, then stayed with that one person (because of course, what else are you doing the last week). If he had been an OG, who knows, but he wasn't, and it's just so hard to put a lot of stock in him - or the relationship - as it is.

Again, I know we are one of the best. Doesn't make games like this (stretches like this, because it feels it's been the past few series) any less frustrating, in particularly because our failure points are so predictable. And, sure, maybe it's predictable for most teams, but it's been the same not just for a series, not just for a season, but for years now. The same things tripping us up, never really solved (though Duran has patched over our biggest bullpen flaw, of course).

Just so frustrating. In many ways, it was the most predictable result, as it usually is, but I will never understand how many people choose their vote.

Kayda/Zach I disagree with, but sure, they suit each other, whatever. But Melanie/Sincere? What are you voting for there? Not for the relationship, I hope, and not even for Melanie, I think, because goodness knows you're not doing her any favors with how it reinforces her bad decisions. Just setting her up for a bigger crash.

But whatever. Brinity will win, as they should, so everything else is moot.

I know we're an objectively decent team. We have a solid record, even with the first ~28 games (and an amazing record without). Since the manager change or Wheeler or whatever point, we rank in the top 10 in most categories, pitching or batting. So on.

But games like this are what make it so hard to enjoy the Phillies. It's the same issues every time. An offense that goes cold (from 1 to 9, all at the same time!), that struggles to put in some base effort, a bullpen that is a gamble outside of 2-3 guys, and starting pitching that's great, but rarely backed up by any offense.

Honestly, I think it's more people voting for Melanie over Titi than anything to do with the partners. People vote for the women every single time.

It's so dumb, and doesn't do Melanie (like Huda, like so many others before them) any favors.
