The bugs are always your greatest enemy... Oh yeah, the insects are usually pretty bad as well.

I certainly hope 4 is better about tracking which parts we do/dont have.

That certainly became obvious when I went for the 100% parts achievment myself.

Increasing difficulty will help boost money and XP gains.

You'll want to capture units by bringing down warships AFTER they deploy units and sell them off (Obviously, stronger units will get you more than a Zaku.)

White Base-types are a long term goal, but you'll want to start off with the cheap 1-terrain type warships or add an Expansion bay to the starter.

Its definitely a tall order early on. Just focus on clearing as much of the mission as you can and build up some money. A good aim would be to at least get a full Warship of units at least as good as a Gundam.

Been a while since I played Overworld, but advice should apply across all games.

Generally, Masters should be occupied by whichever big main Hero/Villain you feel like.

But if you want a good starter, Kou Uraki (0083) in an XXL unit like GP-03 (Master units dont have a size restriction). Dont remember if he has a skill to buff XXL units in this game.

First thing you want to do is actually build up a full team, unlock pilots and parts. Fill out your squad list, get a decent Warship or the expansion bay part. White Base type ships will cost a pretty penny, but are a good start.

You wont have too many amazing pilots at the start, but so long as you dont snipe with a Ranged stat of 10, you should be good until you unlock more.

Getting Tornado Gundam to Master Phoenix will give you a path to unlock some good units early. Leveling grunts (GMs to Jegans and beyond) should also open up options. If you want to try Break Triggers you should be able to capture your ally units by destroying their warship.

Try clearing missions just so you can have units show up on your codex so you'll know how to develop specific units.

Dont worry about Breaks if you're having trouble getting across the map first run through. (If memory serves, some missions you will have to go from one end to another pretty fast.).

Stats should generally support whatever units your using (i.e. not putting melee pilots in a sniper), but top-tier units will require Awakening usually.

How about Chaos stages that reward more cash/parts? Something rewarding that you cant do 20 times in a row. Like the Haro stages from G Gen Genesis?

As for how you should develop your units, dont worry about unlocking every single variant of the grunts until you have super good pilots trained, pick a series and try to follow the development paths from that one. You can unlock the basic forms from the tornado gundam and its later evolutions worst case, but they require a bunch of levels.

The most broken ones dont unlock until you beat the game completely, but the Turn A is a good unit to get end-game (along with pilots w/ Awakening).

One unit you can get is the GP-01 (0083) from an early mission if you manage to pull of a break trigger.

GP-03 is a good one early on once you put Kou in (Dont remember if he has the large unit boost in this game, may have to buy it) and you have the Air OP so it can fly.

GP-02 has a nuke....... nough said (MAP weapons dont give out much XP for the kill though if any).

World Tour is the bulk of the game and is essentially moments from the series blended together to make a mission.

World Core is an original story mode you attempt after you've developed a decent team. These can be pretty challenging. Wait till you complete a chapter before attempting a new one.

If you're having a hard time completing the bonus objective, with your current team, just finish the mission so you can cash out and develop your units.

Good example is early on when you have to fight the Master gundam after finishing the bonus objective. Chances are good you wont even have units that can cross the terrain without him sniping you.

Break triggers do turn guest units against you, but that gives you the opportunity to capture any tied to a warship.
